According to Daily Mail UK, Harry, Meghan Markle, and Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, were involved in a concerning incident described as a “near catastrophic car chase” with aggressive paparazzi. The incident allegedly took place after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended an awards ceremony in New York.

The couple’s spokesperson stated that the pursuit by the paparazzi lasted for over two hours and involved multiple near collisions with other drivers, pedestrians, and even two New York Police Department officers.

The spokesperson emphasized that the incident reminded Harry and Meghan of the tragic circumstances surrounding Princess Diana’s death and highlighted the dangers of intrusive and aggressive paparazzi practices. While the police officials in New York described the situation as a “bit of a chaotic scene” and did not view it as “near catastrophic,” they confirmed that the couple arrived safely at their destination without any reported collisions, injuries, or arrests.

The incident sheds light on Prince Harry’s ongoing concerns regarding his and his family’s security. He has been involved in legal battles with the Home Office in the UK over the denial of police bodyguards following his decision to step back as a working member of the royal family. Prince Harry has also previously mentioned that one of the reasons for leaving the UK was to escape media attention.

Media regulations and laws in the United States are less stringent compared to those in the UK, allowing for more aggressive behavior by paparazzi. The lack of control over media behavior can pose challenges for public figures like Harry and Meghan, who strive to balance their public lives with their personal safety.

The couple had traveled to New York for Meghan to attend a gala dinner where she received the Ms Foundation “Women of Vision” award. They were accompanied by a private security team, including Harry’s former chief Metropolitan Police protection officer. Witnesses reported photographers gathering at the venue and pursuing the couple’s car when they left. Sources close to the couple claimed that several vehicles engaged in dangerous behavior, including driving on the pavement, going through red lights, reversing down one-way streets, and blocking other vehicles.

While the details of the incident remain somewhat conflicting, the reported car chase underscores the challenges faced by public figures and the importance of ensuring their safety and privacy. Prince Harry’s experiences with the media, including the tragic loss of his mother, have undoubtedly influenced his concerns and efforts to protect his family from intrusive and aggressive paparazzi practices. In other news, Trump’s Nazi friend is trying to date underage girls.
