Donald Trump Jr. took to Twitter and questioned how there have been more videos of the war in Israel in a few hours than of the war in Ukraine in the past two years.

How is it possible that I’ve seen more videos out of this war in Israel in a few hours than I have from Ukraine in almost 2 years???

According to Fox News, on Saturday, a harrowing and deeply concerning escalation of violence unfolded in the Middle East, as Iranian-backed Hamas militants launched a large-scale invasion of areas in southern Israel, accompanied by a barrage of rocket attacks originating from the Gaza Strip. The devastating result was the tragic loss of at least 100 Israeli lives, an act for which the Islamist group Hamas has claimed responsibility.

This tragic episode began with a chilling announcement from a senior Hamas military commander, Mohammad Deif, who declared the commencement of the operation. In his broadcast on Hamas-affiliated media, Deif called on Palestinians across the region to attack Israelis. He stated that the group had launched an astonishing 5,000 rockets, characterizing the offensive as “the day of the greatest battle to end the last occupation on earth.”

Reports from local Israeli media painted a grim picture of the aftermath, with at least 100 casualties reported as a result of the wide-ranging assault. Simultaneously, Gaza health officials revealed that 198 Palestinians lost their lives due to Israeli airstrikes carried out in response to the Hamas attack. Hospitals have been inundated with patients, treating at least 985 injured individuals, including 77 in critical condition, according to information from the Associated Press, which was compiled from public statements and hospital communications.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) responded swiftly to the escalating violence, confirming that Hamas had taken hostages and taken prisoners of war in Gaza. Troops were mobilized to the Gaza border, where clashes and gunfire were reported as opposing forces approached one another, as per Fox News correspondent Trey Yingst’s reports from Israel.

In a video message delivered in the early hours of Saturday morning, Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a somber declaration, stating, “Citizens of Israel, we are at war — not in an operation, not in rounds — at war.”

The situation prompted a rapid response from ambulance crews in areas surrounding the Gaza Strip, and sirens blared across Israel. Medical facilities in southern Israel, such as Soroka Medical Center in Beer Sheva and another hospital in Ashkelon, have been overwhelmed with casualties, including civilians. Reports emerged of armed clashes and attacks in the streets of Sderot, a southern Israeli town, and the Israeli military issued a statement acknowledging that a group of terrorists had infiltrated Israeli territory from Gaza. Residents in the vicinity of the Gaza Strip were advised to remain in their homes.
