Trump Pressures Big Fox Name To Commit Crime?

According to The Hill, Former President Donald Trump is pressuring Rupert Murdoch, the chairman of Fox Corp., to support his false allegations of voter fraud if Murdoch is called to testify in a defamation lawsuit against Fox News. Trump posted on Truth Social on Monday morning, urging Murdoch to tell the truth about voter fraud in the 2020 election. Dominion Voting Systems is suing Fox News for knowingly airing false claims about its software being promoted by Trump and his allies after the election. Fox has defended itself on First Amendment grounds and tried unsuccessfully to have the case dismissed.

During Dominion’s legal discovery process, depositions and private communications from top leaders at Fox News, including Murdoch, were unearthed, showing them casting doubt on Trump’s claims about the election and considering distancing the network from the former president and his rhetoric. Although Judge Eric Davis indicated earlier this month that he would not allow Dominion’s lawyers to call Murdoch as a witness during the trial, settlement talks between Fox and Dominion have delayed the start of the trial by 24 hours.

Trump has recently criticized Fox News for its coverage of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who is expected to challenge him for the Republican nomination in the 2024 presidential election. Murdoch’s potential testimony in the Dominion case could have significant implications for Fox News, as it faces accusations of knowingly spreading false information to its viewers.
