Trump’s Attorney General Reveals Next Arrest Imminent

In a recent interview with CBS News correspondent Catherine Herridge, former Attorney General Bill Barr expressed concerns about the potential legal consequences faced by former President Donald Trump. Barr revealed that Trump’s remarks during a CNN town hall had the potential to increase his legal exposure and even predicted that indictments could be expected as early as August.

During the town hall, Trump made several statements that raised eyebrows, particularly in relation to a classified documents case. When asked about Barr’s opinion on Trump’s remarks, Herridge shared that Barr believed the former president had “created more legal exposure” for himself.

Barr, who had previously identified the documents probe as a significant threat to Trump, emphasized that it was evident that Trump had no right to possess those documents. He also highlighted the fact that ample time had been given to Trump to return the documents, and they had even been subpoenaed. Barr warned that if any games were being played, Trump would find himself in a vulnerable position.

When asked about the progress of the investigations, Barr singled out the Mar-a-Lago document case as the most concerning for Trump. He noted that the case didn’t rely heavily on intent but rather on the clear fact that Trump had no legitimate reason to have those documents in his possession.

Regarding the timeline for potential indictments, Barr suggested that it would be reasonable to expect a charging decision before the end of the year. He speculated that the process of reviewing the evidence, consulting with the attorney general, and finalizing the charges would likely take several months, with the earliest possible timing being later in the summer or fall.

Barr’s remarks regarding Trump’s legal exposure and the possibility of imminent indictments serve as a stark reminder of the legal challenges that the former president could face. The significance of Trump’s statements during the CNN town hall, as highlighted by Barr, raises questions about the potential consequences and the timeline for legal actions. As the progress and decisions of the investigation are made, the coming months will likely provide further insights into the legal fate of Donald Trump.

NIKOLE KILLION: And I know you also talked to him about some of the investigations that former President Donald Trump is currently facing. Where does he think the most danger lies?

CATHERINE HERRIDGE: Well, of the more than half dozen investigations, the former attorney general told CBS News, in his view, there is one that stands out. And he said the former president’s comments at that recent CNN town hall may have created more legal exposure.

BILL BARR: I’ve said all along that of the cases out there right now, the one I’d be most concerned about if I were the president, former president, is the Mar-a-Lago document case.

CATHERINE HERRIDGE: And why so?

BILL BARR: Because it’s it’s it doesn’t go a lot on intent or anything like that. It’s very it’s very clear that he had no business having those documents. He was given a long time to send them back. And he was, they were subpoenaed. And if there’s any games being played there, he’s, he’s going to be very exposed.

CATHERINE HERRIDGE: Given the developments in the grand jury. Do you believe that special counsel Jack Smith is close to a charging decision?

BILL BARR: I would think they’d want to do it before the end of the year. And, you know, it could be, you know, later in the summer or in the fall, you know, would be the earliest I would expect that.

CATHERINE HERRIDGE: And why that timing?

BILL BARR: Because if they’re close, if they’re close to a decision, I think the process of, you know, viewing that and socializing it with the attorney general and so forth, and buttoning it up would probably take that long.
