According to Mediaite, The House Oversight Committee witnessed a chaotic scene on Wednesday as members engaged in heated exchanges and Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) accused Hunter Biden of lacking courage after his surprise appearance at the hearing.

The committee had convened to discuss and vote on a resolution to find Hunter Biden in contempt of Congress for failing to comply with a subpoena issued late last year. The meeting began with dramatic moments, but Ranking Member Jamie Raskin (D-MD) eventually started his opening statement.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) quickly interjected, raising an inquiry about House and committee rules related to subpoenas and hearings. Chairman James Comer (R-KY) instructed her to state her point, leading to a series of overlapping remarks and protests from Raskin.

Amid the chaos, Greene insisted that Comer read the rules for a deposition to the committee, and after doing so, Raskin continued his statement. However, Comer eventually cut him off, citing the expiration of his allotted time.

As Comer opened the floor to other members, Rep. Nancy Mace from South Carolina took the opportunity to express her strong opinions. Mace questioned who had bribed Hunter Biden to attend the hearing and accused him of exhibiting white privilege by ignoring a congressional subpoena. She further criticized Hunter’s perceived lack of courage, using strong language.

Amid Mace’s remarks, Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-FL) called for an immediate vote to hear from Hunter Biden. Mace insisted on being heard, questioning whether women were allowed to speak in the committee. Chaos ensued, with Comer demanding order and Mace expressing her opinion that Hunter Biden should be arrested on the spot.

Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ) later spoke, criticizing the decorum of his colleagues and emphasizing the need to follow the committee rules. Chairman Comer swiftly agreed with Biggs, seeking to restore order to the proceedings. The heated exchanges underscored the intense atmosphere surrounding Hunter Biden’s appearance and the ongoing contempt proceedings.

“Order! Order! Order!” Comer demanded as Mace yelled, “Are women allowed to speak in here?!”

After some more shouting back and forth, Mace declared, “I think that, uh, that Hunter Biden should be arrested right here, right now and go straight to jail. Our nation is founded on the rule of law.”
