MSNBC host Rachel Maddow and E. Jean Carroll’s legal team took the opportunity to critique and mock former President Donald Trump’s lawyer, Alina Habba, over her courtroom antics and post-trial rant. After Trump was hit with an $83.3 million judgment for defaming Carroll, Habba went on an angry rant outside the courthouse.

During an extensive interview on The Rachel Maddow Show, Maddow played a clip of Habba’s rant, leading to moments of humor and mocking commentary from Carroll’s attorneys, Roberta “Robbie” Kaplan and Shawn Crowley. Maddow then asked about Trump’s lawyering, directing the question to Kaplan and Crowley.

Kaplan responded by highlighting the challenging moments during the trial when Habba would yell at the judge and express frustration. She described the experience as “unbelievably nerve-racking.” When Crowley was asked about Trump’s representation, she acknowledged the difficulties faced by Habba, particularly when Trump was in the courtroom. According to Crowley, Habba appeared more disciplined and acted more like a lawyer when Trump was not present. However, she noted that Habba seemed influenced by Trump’s presence, with the former president telling her when to object and expressing frustration.

The interview provided insight into the dynamics of the trial and shed light on the challenges faced by Trump’s legal team, particularly in managing the former president’s involvement in the courtroom proceedings.
