Tucker Carlson & Vin Diesel Lawyer Bombshell Leaks

According to Business Insider, both Fox News host Tucker Carlson and CNN anchor Don Lemon have left their networks and hired the same high-powered lawyer to handle their departures. The lawyer they’ve retained is Bryan Freedman, who has a history of helping television hosts secure millions from their previous networks. Despite neither host announcing any legal disputes with their employers, Freedman has been hired as a precautionary measure.

CNN’s former chief media correspondent, Brian Stelter, reported that both Carlson and Lemon have retained Freedman’s services, and The New York Times also confirmed that Lemon had hired Freedman. Messy media breakups are a familiar territory for Freedman, as he has aggressively represented numerous prominent figures in the entertainment world, including Vin Diesel, Quentin Tarantino, and Mariah Carey.

Freedman’s most notable work involved helping former host Megyn Kelly secure around $30 million from NBC News after she parted ways with the network in 2019. Kelly was fired midway through her three-year contract worth $69 million, but NBC agreed to pay her the remainder of her original salary.

In 2021, Freedman represented longtime “The Bachelor” host Chris Harrison, who reached a $10 million exit settlement with ABC after facing backlash over his comments on the show, per Variety.

Chris Cuomo, the anchor who was fired by CNN in December 2021, also hired Freedman for his ongoing wrongful termination suit against the network, seeking $125 million.

Lemon, like Cuomo, appears to have left CNN on a bitter note. In a tweet on Monday, he wrote that he was “terminated by CNN” and “stunned” by the announcement. Lemon had been with CNN for 17 years and expressed surprise that someone in management did not tell him directly.

CNN disputed Lemon’s statement, saying that he was “offered an opportunity to meet with management but instead released a statement on Twitter.” Carlson, on the other hand, only knew about his departure 10 minutes before the network made the announcement, according to The Wall Street Journal and The Times. “I have no idea what’s going on,” Carlson told his staff at the time, as reported by The Daily Beast.

Freedman, Carlson, and Lemon have yet to make any official statements regarding the reasons behind their departures or their future plans. Freedman did not immediately respond to requests for comment outside regular business hours, and Lemon’s agent also did not immediately respond to a similar request.
