Tyson Fury’s father John Fury recently made some bold claims on Deontay Wilder. Fury claimed that Wilder could be “killed” if he earns a fourth fight with his heavyweight champion son, Tyson.
John Fury opens up on Deontay Wilder
Tyson Fury recently stepped out of retirement and will return to the ring this weekend against Derek Chisora at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Should the ‘Gypsy King’ pick up another win, a whole host of fights could be available in 2023, including an undisputed clash with Oleksandr Usyk.
His next mandatory defense could come against former three-time opponent Wilder, who may earn a fourth clash with a win over Andy Ruiz Jr in the ordered WBC title eliminator. But Fury Sr believes his son’s long-term rival should avoid the renewed battle and explore other options to regain a title.
“I want to see Deontay Wilder beat somebody of note,” Fury Sr told Mirror Fighting courtesy of FreeBets.com when discussing a fourth fight between his son and Wilder. “Andy Ruiz Jr to me is not performing and they know this. Why doesn’t Deontay Wilder fight Joe Joyce? He is up there with the top three in my eyes. When Tyson fights Deontay Wilder and fights him next, we know his weak spot.
“It will be over for him. You beat a man three times, you can beat him 10 times. I am waiting for a new crop of heavyweights to say this kid might have a man who can beat Tyson. It is up to Tyson what he wants to do, but when he fights him for a fourth time, make it the final one. End his career.
“Both sides are weak, Tyson will hit him that hard this time he will be lucky to regain consciousness. All he is said is that he wants a body on his record, he wants to kill but I think karma will come his way. If he fights Tyson I think he has to watch what he says, because I think karma is going to bite him in the backside.
