Tyson Fury Replacing WWE Star At PPV?

The Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns has been rumored to face Drew McIntyre at the Clash at the Castle event in September in the UK. However, as it seems, the plans might be altered by the company and that would happen if boxing legend Tyson Fury agrees to return to WWE. In that case, McIntyre will face Fury instead of Reigns.

Tyson Fury could return soon

Drew McIntyre and Roman Reigns have had a storied history. ‘The Scottish Warrior’ is a two-time WWE Champion but has never defeated ‘The Tribal Chief’. The two men recently faced each other in a six-man tag team match at WrestleMania Backlash, won by Reigns’ team.

As per Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the current plan for Reigns vs. McIntyre could change if Tyson Fury returns to WWE and is part of Clash at the Castle:

“The plan for the show as of right now is Roman Reigns vs. Drew McIntyre as the main event, but if Tyson Fury is part of the show, it could change to him against McIntyre.”

While speaking with Sky Sports, McIntyre had noted that he’s a big fan of Fury and does have interest in potentially wrestling Fury at the WWE UK stadium show from Cardiff, Wales in September:

“Yeah, I cheer him on every single time. We go back and forth with each other and have done it for the past couple of years. Give each other stick whenever he shows up at one of our shows. Somehow he ducks me, he’s the world’s largest ninja…I’m a big fan of his. He’s highly entertaining, he’s such an attraction and that’s why I’m always saying to him, ‘Hey, the door’s always open in WWE. The ball is in your court.’ You come in here as Drew McIntyre’s special guest or we will find a role for you or perhaps myself, himself do something in the ring.”

McIntyre had also said: “We’ll figure out if it can happen in cardiff.”
