Chael Sonnen, a former UFC fighter renowned for his outlandish claims and predictions, has recently made a bold statement regarding LeBron James’ use of Performance Enhancing Drugs (PEDs). Speaking on the Flagrant podcast hosted by Andrew Schulz and Akaash Singh, Sonnen confidently claimed that he knows what drugs James takes and that he uses EPO, a banned substance for NBA athletes.
Sonnen emphasized the importance of understanding the effects of PEDs, stating that if people knew what they did, they would realize why it matters. He explained that EPO increases red blood cells, which enhances endurance and allows players to perform at a high level throughout the entire game.
This allegation adds to the criticisms of the NBA’s anti-doping tests and measures, which some believe are too lenient. While the NBA has not had any PED controversies in the past, Sonnen’s claim raises questions about the effectiveness of the league’s policies.
Additionally, Sonnen admitted to using PEDs himself to maintain his fitness and youthfulness, now that he is no longer competing professionally.
“If the world understood what LeBron did….If you know what these performance enhancers did, then you would know why it does matter. We have the same drug guy, I know exactly what he’s doing.
“EPO (Erythropoietin) matters, it’s the reason LeBron takes it, it matters. EPO increases your red blood cells, which gives you endurance so you can play all game long.”
