UFC Programming on Spike This Weekend, NSAC Approves MMA Instant Replay

– Spike TV will be offering up over 12 hours of UFC programming on Saturday. Starting at 1PM ET, Spike will show a replay of UFC Fight Night 4 (Stephan Bonnar vs. Keith Jardine). Throughout the day, Spike will show UFC 75 (UFC light heavyweight title-holder Quinton Jackson vs. PRIDE champ Dan Henderson), UFC 89 (Michael Bisping vs. Chris Leben) and UFC Fight Night 16 (Fights For The Troops). The night will conclude with an airing of Ultimate Iceman: Chuck Liddell.

– The Nevada State Athletic Commission has approved instant replay for MMA yesterday. MMA officials will now be able to go back and take a second look to see if an injury (such as a missed eye poke) forced the bout’s stoppage. Here is the final wording of the change.

“A referee at the conclusion of a contest or exhibition stopped immediately due to an injury to an unarmed combatant pursuant to NAC 467.718 and after making a decision, may view a replay if available in order to determine whether the injury in question was caused a legal blow or a foul.”

The rule could take effect in as early as 30 days.
