Update on former Impact stars possibly debuting at the Royal Rumble

Could we see a surprise Royal Rumble appearance from a former Impact champion?

Earlier this week, Impact Wrestling lost two of their main event stars in Bobby Lashley and EC3. Both men carried Impact through some of the most difficult years of their existence, holding down the main event scene while they struggled to find a home on any network.

EC3 grabbed the pink slip in the Feast or Fired match, and it was revealed that night that Impact had agreed to give him his early release. Lashley, after getting beaten by a newly debuted Brian Cage twice, bowed to the crowd and said goodbye. News broke later that day that Lashley and Impact parted ways.

According to PWInsider.com, EC3 is completely free from Impact Wrestling. It’s possible that he could make his debut at the Royal Rumble. It’s also worth noting that EC3 had a deal worked out with an independent company on the day of the Rumble, but has backed out.

Lashley, on the other hand, won’t be able to show up in the WWE until February 1st, effectively shutting down any hopes of seeing him as a surprise entrant on January 28th.

Do you think EC3 will appear at this year’s Royal Rumble? Who would you like to see him feud with first? Let us know in the comments.
