Vince McMahon Changes SmackDown Star’s Name

When Triple H took over as the Head of WWE creative from Vince McMahon, several stars got back their old names and gimmicks. It seems that Vince has now changed a name of a superstar.

The likes of Matt Riddle, Tommaso Ciampa and Austin Theory got their first names back, while Piper Niven and Nikki Cross reverted back to their old gimmicks.

It seems that Madcap Moss will once again go by the name Riddick Moss.

Vince McMahon seemingly made the change

As Madcap Moss, he served as Baron Corbin’s sidekick, but he has since shed that persona and adopted a more serious character. The decision to drop the ‘Madcap’ persona was made last year. They have decided to drop the ‘Madcap’ name going forward.

On last week’s Smackdown, Karrion Kross named a list of WWE Superstars he had taken things from in as he built his feud with Shinsuke Nakamura. While doing so, he referred to Madcap Moss as ‘Riddick Moss.’

It is evident that the name wasn’t said by accident, as Moss’ profile on WWE’s roster page on WWE.com officially lists him once again as ‘Riddick Moss’.

Moss was known for his cocky attitude and impressive physique during his NXT days, and it seems that the company is looking to bring some of that energy back with the name change. Here’s what Dave Meltzer stated:

”They are dropping the Madcap Moss name, since they dropped the actual gimmick some time ago, and he’ll be Riddick Moss going forward.”

With his new name and revamped character, Moss is eyeing to elevate his career in the future.
