Earlier today, Vince McMahon took part in the WWE’s second quarter investors call. The Chairman stated what many assumed was the plan going forward, claiming that the product will be edgier from here on out.
However, he did say that they won’t be going to the extreme that was the Attitude Era, and will attempt to keep blood at a minimum, compared to a “potential competitor.” McMahon never mentioned All Elite Wrestling by name, but continued to use terms similar to the one above.
VKM: We're going to be a bit edgier, but will remain in the PG environment. We're not going back to the Attitude Era, blood and guts, something you might see with…a new competitor. #WWEQ2

He also said that he was welcome to more competition, but warned that “blood and guts and gory things” might not be the way to go.
VKM cites competition as being good, but hopes that the new competition won't do the "blood and guts and gory things" they have been doing. I can't speak for TNT, but I don't think they would put up with that." #WWEQ2

We’ve already seen a handful of changes in WWE programming over the past few weeks. It seems that, per McMahon himself, we’re going to see the company push out a more “sophisticated” product, pushing the envelope while also holding back on any gruesome violence.
