Several WWE Superstars were let go by the company last week as part of the pandemic budget cuts. Among the Superstars released included Peyton Royce, Billie Kay, Mojo Rawley and others. This week’s episode of Friday Night Smackdown did not have a lot of announcements before the start of the show and it seems there was a reason for that.
According to a report by Ringside News, many fans began wondering whether there was a lack of WWE Superstars on the show due to the 45-minute opening segment transitioning into a tag team match. A senior member of the team stated that, ”Only two segments were announced because nothing was decided on for SmackDown until very late Thursday night.”
We asked about the planning for SmackDown this week. We were told that they only had 2 segments prior because Vince McMahon’s time was “very much stretched this week with wiping out an entire division,” as the talent brand management division was greatly cut. Carrano drama too.
