Vince McMahon is a huge fan of Baron Corbin

With the booking that Corbin has had since the Smackdown Live before Summerslam, you wouldn’t think he had anyone in his corner in the back. After failing to cash in his MITB briefcase in an embarrassing fashion, he was dominated by John Cena at Summerslam, who berated and ridiculed him during the match.

After that, he would end up winning the United States Championship, but his reign was short-lived, and the Lone Wolf lost his belt to Dolph Ziggler, a man who would vacate the belt the next Tuesday night. Afterward, a tournament was scheduled to determine the new United States Champion. Corbin was knocked out in the first round by the eventual winner, Bobby Roode.

Since then, he hasn’t exactly built up much steam, failing to accomplish anything he set out to do over the next few months, including being the first ever two-time winner of the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. With the number of losses and failures under his belt, it’s strange to think that he has anybody in the back that believes he can be a big star.

Well, it turns out that none other than the boss himself, Vince McMahon, is still very high on Baron Corbin. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, McMahon believes, out of all of the rising stars on Smackdown Live, Corbin will be a future main event and a major player for the WWE.

McMahon was a big fan of Corbin upon his debut on the main roster, and there were plans to push him far after WrestleMania 33. However, things fell apart near the end with Corbin, supposedly, sticking his foot in his mouth at some point backstage.

If this is true, however, then that leaked image of the Extreme Rules main event actually makes sense now.

As a fan of Baron Corbin, I’m both excited and terrified to see how all of this plays out.
