WWE Chairman Vince McMahon recently released a plethora of talents and employees recently. The talents have been referred to as independent contractors but the former U.S. Presidential candidate Andrew Yang noted that WWE misclassifies their stars as independent contractors, even though their restrictive contracts state otherwise. Andrew Yang sends a message to Vince McMahon
Yang sent out an open invitation to any current or former WWE stars to contact labor attorney Lucas Middlebrook if they feel that they were misclassified by WWE. This was followed by a statement about getting those people what WWE owes them because it’s been a long time coming.
“Had a call with the Department of Labor. If you are a current or former @WWE performer who feels you were misclassified as an independent contractor contact @lkmiddleb and let’s get you what Vince owes you. Been a long time coming but this storyline is real.”
The subject of unionizing WWE stars is a huge topic that gets fueled up often but nothing has into fruition. We’ll have to see if Andrew Yang could ensure that those stars are referred to as employees and get all the perks that come with it.
