Vince McMahon Rejects Demand To Release Star

The Diamond Mine member on NXT 2.0 Roderick Strong had reportedly requested his release from the company. He had  signed a new contract with the company early last year. But he had requested his release before the release of his wife Marina Shafir and numerous other members of his Diamond Mine stable. It turns out his request has been rejected.

Roderick Strong’s future up in the air

New reports coming out of Fightful Select suggest that the former Cruiserweight Champion has asked for his NXT release but has been denied multiple times. Reports suggest that WWE doesn’t want to release Strong as he factors into their future creative plans. However, he has not wrestled on TV since April 7th, where he lost to Ilja Dragunov on NXT UK.

Previously, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reported that Strong had asked for his WWE release “multiple times over the last several months.” All of Strong’s requests have been denied by WWE despite the NXT star being “frustrated” by multiple things in the multi-colored brand. Strong isn’t the only WWE Superstar to recently request their release, as Mustafa Ali had publicly made his request in January.

The release of Bivens this past week saw Strong become the only original Diamond Mine member to still work for WWE. The current lineup of the group features the former North American Champion, The Creed Brothers, Ivy Nile, and Tatum Paxley. However, the line-up used to look very different, with Strong initially teaming up with Tyler Rust, Japanese star Hachiman, and manager Malcolm Bivens.

Roderick Strong made an appearance on the latest edition of NXT 2.0 despite the reports. We will now have to wait and see what future awaits for Strong.
