Vince McMahon Reportedly Not Happy With Steve Austin’s Interview With Paul Heyman

After Steve Austin and Paul Heyman teased a match that would see Austin take on Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 32 during Austin’s podcast on the WWE Network, Vince McMahon was upset with Austin about bringing up that match.

Mr. McMahon was said to be seen talking to Austin following the podcast and told him that he felt they were creating major interest in a match that was not happening.

Austin vs. Lesnar is not in their current WrestleMania 32 plans and Vince felt that he didn’t want the fans to get excited about a match that was not going to happen.

Vince wanted the possible match to be forgotten about, so Austin addressed it once on his podcast then moved on to the next topic.

It’s probably nothing. Their own website creates hype for dream matches all the time, including Sting vs. Undertaker. Even that might not happen, depending on the health of Sting, as well as whether or not both parties are still interested next year.

I think you’re reading way too much into it. I really, really don’t think a pro like Heyman is going to get actually flustered by a promo from Austin. It seemed like Austin actually played right into Heyman’s hand.

Yeah, but it seemed like Austin took up a notch beyond what Paul was saying. To me it sounded like Heyman was just being “tongue and cheek,” but Austin went full promo on him. I’m not saying him going not business for himself was right or wrong, I just saying that it looked to me that is what he was doing.

Wasn’t Heyman the one who asked Austin if he’d like to fight Lesnar? Heyman seemed flustered because he was playing the role as the advocate of Brock Lesnar.

Kinda seemed like Austin was going into business for himself there (if this isn’t all a work.) Heyman seemed to be very flustered and off-guard when Austin went into shoot mode. I don’t think he was expecting that.
