Shayna Baszler was an absolute monster in NXT. The Queen of Spades captured the NXT Women’s Championship two times and ran through a large list of top contenders. After dethroning Ember Moon, she dominated the division. Mia Yim, Dakota Kai, Bianca Belair, Io Shirai, Kairi Sane all fell to the Submission Magician.
Many assumed that she’d have a similar run on Monday Night RAW. She immediately set her sights on Becky Lynch, leading to a title bout at WrestleMania. However, after their match, Baszler’s push seemingly halted. After losing the Money in the Bank Ladder Match, we’ve not seen her on RAW.
According to Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer, Vince McMahon failed to understand what Baszler brought to the table. Because of that, her push has basically been tossed out the window.
Vince also soured on Baszler completely because he never conceptually grasped the style that an MMA fighter should use in pro wrestling and she doesn’t check his buttons when it comes to women in wrestling, so he made the call to remove her push and take her off television. Many were incredibly high on Shayna Baszler and expected her to become a top heel in a short time. In fact, Becky Lynch wanted to drop the RAW Women’s Championship to her. However, if Meltzer is correct, Vince just doesn’t see it.
