Vince McMahon Rips ‘Fake’ Smackdown Match

One of the staples of modern-day pro wrestling sees pro wrestlers slapping their legs while delivering superkicks, in order to increase their impact. However, it seems WWE is no longer a fan of Superstars slapping their legs and sent a memo to NXT regarding the matter. It was also said that any Superstar who slaps their legs will have to pay a fine.

On the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer provided an explanation as to what got Vince McMahon angry in the first place. It was said that McMahon was reportedly furious after a match while he was waiting in Gorilla Position during SmackDown.

While the exact date of the episode is not known, it can be assumed it is a recent episode that led to the change.

“This is what I was told, but it’s not like I’m gonna get an official [response] anyway. What I was told was at some point on a SmackDown show somebody did a leg slapping deal and Vince got mad because it was so obvious.”

It was also not mentioned who performed the leg slap but it was enough for Vince McMahon to notice. We will have to see whether this fine will remain a permanent fixture.
