What WWE might have initially planned for Shayna Baszler in 2020

Shayna Baszler

Shayna Baszler won the main event at Survivor Series and was beaten down by Becky Lynch during the post-match celebration. This might have been WWE hinting about their plans for Baszler.

According to a report by The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the end of Survivor Series was all about Shayna Baszler. It seems they are grooming Becky Lynch vs Shayna Bazsler in the future as initial plans would have seen Baszler make her main roster debut in 2020.

The idea of the match, and really the entire angle, was for Baszler. Baszler carries herself and talks like a badass bully. The original plan was for her to be on the main roster in 2020. Based on so much of the build, and the match and post-match, it appeared she was being groomed for Lynch.

We will have to see what WWE has planned next for The Queen Of Spades. She consistently puts on great matches and is now the longest-reigning NXT Women’s Champion. So her addition to the main roster will be a great one.

I remember when WWF had a big bully monster heel they brought in, in 1996. His name was Vader, and they brought him in with a ton of heat, “injuring” Yokozuna, and going on a rampage, destroying faces and heels alike. The dude was legit set up to become WWF Champion, and could/should have gone on to become one of the most fearsome, dominant monster heels in WWF/E history.

But instead of that happening, which has been confirmed by multiple parties WAS the original plan, HBK whined to Vince that he didn’t want to work with Vader or put Vader over, because mean ol’ Vader was stiff in the ring (and HBK didn’t really like putting ANYONE over anyway). So just like that, Vince said “OK”, and HBK beat Vader at SummerSlam, and then they proceeded to gradually make Vader go from being a bad ass, to acting like a cowardly heel, and they ultimately totally buried the poor guy before eventually releasing him in 1999.

    Good ol’ Vince.

More rumours of her joining the “main roster”, just like there have been for the last year to two years. It is the same thing we hear over and over again.
Fact is, NXT is now being pushed as a “main roster” show and not purely developmental, so hopefully that will see less people being moved to RAW and Smackdown unless it is in a draft.
