Why Vince McMahon decided to stop making live episodes

Vince McMahon recently decided to change the schedules for shows. The company was under the impression that they had to air live shows or they would not be paid, according to their television contracts. However, WWE decided to go back to pre-taping shows.

On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that NBC/Universal and Fox did not answer what the press asked them regarding the subject. Meltzer claims that Vince McMahon’s shift to demanding live shows was because he was “afraid”, either of Fox or NBC/Universal. He thought that they might not honour contracts if WWE did more taped shows. Meltzer further said that “at some point” Vince was reassured that WWE would still get their money even with taped shows which is why he has now relented on that front.

The COVID-19 outbreak has taken over the world. We can hope the situation can be contained eventually. Till then, the company will be providing content for fans during these hard times.
