WWE events are always subjected to botches as the product is normally live and this month’s latest pay-per-view offering, ‘WrestleMania Backlash’ is no exception. During the opening of the WWE Championship match between Braun Strowman, Drew McIntyre and Bobby Lashley, play-by-play commentator Adnan Virk made a glaring mistake by proclaiming that tonight’s pay-per-view event was the second ever time that Braun Strowman ever competed for the WWE Championship.
This was mocked by Wrestling Inc founder Raj Giri who would take to social media via Twitter who stated: “Adnan Virk, what? This is Braun’s second ever chance at the World title? He’s faced Brock at multiple PPVs for the belt, plus he won the title at Mania last year.”
Other fans would attempt to defend Virk as Cody Brewer on Twitter said: “He said last chance at the WWE championship, those other matches with Brock were for the universal championship” While Carmine Vittorio would chime in on the social media platform by stating: “I think he means wwe title lol I was just about to say how much he’s improved the past couple weeks”
It should be made clear that Virk said that this is Strowman’s second shot at the World title, not indicating if it was the WWE Championship or Universal Championship. It should be noted that Strowman is a former WWE Universal Champion.
