WWE announces the next NXT TakeOver will be standalone

WWE NXT TakeOver special events are their own entity and are not required to take place in association with any main roster pay-per-view. TakeOver events have stood alone before and it seems this year’s Survivor Series will not be preceded by an NXT TakeOver event.

According to a report by PW Insider, WWE removed the planned TakeOver during Survivor Series weekend. A new TakeOver event will be instead, taking place on December 6th. The name of the event has yet to be revealed.

With the next TakeOver event taking place in December, it gives the brand enough time to build their storylines and establish feuds. With the event not taking place during Survivor Series weekend, fans can expect NXT Superstars to compete at Survivor Series in a similar fashion to last year.

It was also reported that NXT UK will be having their next TakeOver event this year as well. The brand will be returning on September 17th after a long hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The NXT UK TakeOver event will be taking place on October 4th, with no name being revealed for this event. It is likely it will be held at the BT Sport studios.
