WWE announces the return of the King of the Ring tournament

As seen on this week’s post-Summerslam edition of Monday Night RAW, WWE announced the return of the King of the Ring tournament. The prestigious and fan-favorite tournament will make it’s return to WWE TV after four years.

Bad News Barrett won the last edition of the tournament back in 2015 but the entire gimmick wasn’t optimized and so it was unremarkable in the longer run.

The tournament will start off next week on Monday Night RAW and one should expect more details in the coming days.

It will be interesting to see which Superstar wins this prestigious tournament and becomes the new King of the Ring.

Tournaments in WWE are a welcomed return for sure.
But KOTR has not really meant anything since the PPV was killed off. The TV version of it has probably buried more than it has elevated people.

Just please, whoever wins it, do not make them do the stupid king gimmick. It did not work for the likes of Sheamus and Barrett, and really has no place on the card anymore. Just let it elevate someone to the next level like it used to do.

Agreed. I remember when the winner would get a major WWE title push, but it didn’t work for everyone.

I like the concept and it’s def elevated or revitalized a lot of stars but I hate when the King gimmick is too forced. It doesn’t work for everyone and isn’t always needed like Stone Cold.
