WWE Big Name Quits Before Royal Rumble

Vince McMahon decided to make his way back to WWE. A new filing showed that McMahon is returning to the WWE board of directors. Reports emerged that the WWE Board Of Directors also tried to stop Vince McMahon from returning. Former WWE co-presidents Michelle Wilson and George Barrios are also on the board. McMahon had stated that his intention was to facilitate a sale of the company.

There has been much speculation that Vince McMahon was looking to sell to a party that would commit to keeping him in charge of the company. It was further noted that Stephanie McMahon was resigning as Co-CEO of WWE and that Vince McMahon was unanimously voted in as Executive Chairman. Speculation was everywhere and it didn’t take more than a couple of hours before it was reported that among the potential buyers interested in purchasing WWE was a group out of Saudi Arabia.

Vince came back to the WWE offices in Stamford earlier this month. He also brought back Brad Blum as his Chief of Staff, just a month and a half after WWE let him go.

Matthew Drew departs WWE

PW Insider is now reporting that Matthew Drew has parted ways with the company. Drew was Senior Vice President of International, a position he took up in June 2021. According to the report, his exit came last week. He was tasked with “growing WWE’s brand and business outside of the United States.”

In addition, Drew worked “with other company leaders to devise WWE’s international strategy for live events, digital, consumer products and new revenue opportunities.”

Drew is the latest vice president to part ways with the company after Stefanie Fiondella and Adam Hopkins tendered their resignations. Both Fiondella as well as Hopkins were Vice President of Communications.
