WWE cancelled Smackdown tapings for this week

An NXT Superstar recently tested positive for COVID-19. Owing to this, WWE had to perform a widespread test for every Superstar and members of staff. The testing was not swift, due to which quite a few people were left outside and unable to enter the Performance Center. The tapings of Smackdown were affected due to this.

According to a report by PW Insider, WWE cancelled today’s tapings for Friday Night Smackdown. They will be returning to tape on the day of the show next Friday.

Superstars have been told taping will be taking place on June 26th for Friday Night Smackdown. The show will not be airing live and will be recorded and edited before it will air on FOX.

WWE planned on taping Raw, Raw Talk, Main Event and two episodes of 205 Live and Smackdown as well. However, due to the delays caused by the COVID-19 testing, they had to cancel taping for the blue brand.

The situation backstage was described to be similar to an asylum, according to reports.
