WWE Drop WrestleMania 50 Bombshell

WrestleMania 50 is still a long time away but this doesn’t stop the WWE Universe from speculating what the event might possibly look like. During the latest edition of Something to Wrestle with Bruce Prichard, the Executive Director of WWE Monday Night Raw and WWE Smackdown on FOX proclaimed that WWE could very well do something they haven’t done in a very long time – run a WrestleMania outside of a stadium for the event. The last time WWE was in an arena for ‘The Show of Shows’ for WrestleMania 26 in 2006 at Chicago’s Allstate Arena. Prichard discussed the possibility with Conrad Thompson, telling him the following. This top WWE superstar ‘lost fans’ during this year’s WrestleMania.

“Yeah I do,” Prichard replied, when asked if he could see WrestleMania in an arena again. “I could see it happening for a special [anniversary], WrestleMania 100 type thing. 75th anniversary, 50th anniversary in the [Madison Square] Garden. WrestleMania 4 I thought, wouldn’t it be cool to do 10 of these?”

In other news pertaining to Bruce Prichard and WrestleMania, during another recent edition of Something to Wrestle, Prichard discussed why WWE hasn’t had a WrestleMania outside of North America. Credit to Wrestling Inc for the following quote.

“Expense. You got to get everybody over there, it’s quite expensive. You’ve got travel, you’ve got equipment, you’ve got technology. That expense, when you look at time change and everything else, [being] live is a big selling point for pay per views. If you’re doing something at noon on Sunday that you’re used to getting at 6 or 7 in the evening, there’s just going to be less buys in general. The cost is definitely a lot higher.”
