In major news concerning WWE Monday Night Raw, Tom Philips will no longer be the play-by-play commentator for WWE’s flagship show. It has been reported by Wrestling Inc that Adnan Virk will be taking over the position. Virk is a newcomer for WWE but has a stellar resume as he has been host of Canada’s ‘The Score’, the equivalent to ESPN Sportscenter in the United States. Virk has also worked for ESPN for nine years – from 2010 to 2019. This recent Raw storyline ‘angered’ the USA Network
Tom Philips will still be employed by the company, however it is not clear what his new assignment within WWE will be. Prior to being named WWE Monday Night Raw’s play-by-play commentator last year, Philips was mostly known as the voice of WWE NXT, serving as lead commentator for NXT and WWE NXT UK. Philips was also at one point, the play-by-play man for WWE Smackdown. WWE Monday Night Raw has gone through several lineup changes as Vic Joseph was the play-by-play personality for the red brand prior to Philips getting the nod. Virk will be making his debut on Raw this Monday.
Peacock announced recently that they will be censoring a portion of a classic edition of WWE Monday Night Raw as the NBC streaming service quietly 0edited out a segment from the November 24, 1997 Monday Night Raw when Goldust introduced Luna Vachon while wearing blackface.
