Scheduled for tonight’s show: Charlotte Flair vs. Bayley in a “Champion vs. Champion” match-up, the Intercontinental Championship Tournament continues, and WWE’s newest “hot” couple Otis & Mandy Rose take on Dolph Ziggler. Will Otis and Mandy’s love conquer all? It’s interesting to see how things work out, we will know soon enough as SmackDown is set to air on Fox tonight beginning at 8:00 p.m. EST.

WWE FRIDAY NIGHT SMACKDOWN RESULTS (5/22): ORLANDO, FL.

SmackDown Opener

Tonight’s edition of SmackDown begins at it’s regularly scheduled time of 8:00 p.m. (Eastern Time) on the Fox network. The opening theme begins, we see the WWE Forever logo.

We immediately go into a video package honoring the brave men and women that fought for our freedom. “They didn’t volunteer to die. They volunteered to defend values… which is made up of what we call civilians.”

Videos of soldiers crying, kissing family members, and the many graves of those who saved us, guided us, and ensured our values. We show our respect this Memorial Day weekend, saying “Thank You”.

Are you ready? Are you ready for a good time? The opening sequence showing the current WWE Friday Night SmackDown superstars airs as the theme song plays us into tonight’s SmackDown.

Inside the Performance Center

We enter the WWE Performance Center. We hear the voice of Michael Cole as he announces the NXT Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair will collide with SmackDown Women’s Champion, Bayley. Then, Mixed Tag-Team Match between Mandy Rose & Otis and Dolph Ziggler & Sonya Deville. We then are directed to the ring where The Miz and John Morrison are waiting to kick off tonight’s edition of “The Dirt Sheet”.

“The Dirt Sheet” – with hosts: The Miz and John Morrison

We head to the ring where tag-team partners The Miz and John Morrison are seated, ready to start tonight’s edition of The Dirt Sheet. Morrison begins Hi, my name is John Morrison, and my abs are now certified Instagram influencers.” Miz makes a comment about not being able to believe “this man” is WWE Mr. Money in the Bank as we see a clip of Otis with the MITB briefcase. Miz says Braun Strowman influenced Otis and got into Miz’s business. Miz says Strowman gets too much credit.

We head to the ring where tag-team partners The Miz and John Morrison are seated, ready to start tonight’s edition of The Dirt Sheet. Morrison begins Hi, my name is John Morrison, and my abs are now certified Instagram influencers.” Miz makes a comment about not being able to believe “this man” is WWE Mr. Money in the Bank as we see a clip of Otis with the MITB briefcase. Miz says Braun Strowman influenced Otis and got into Miz’s business. Miz says Strowman gets too much credit.

Why did he get a match with Goldberg at Wrestlemania? It coulda been us.” We are talking about a guy that was replaced in the Wyatt Family by stuffed animals.

Miz continues, “For a dirt sheet exclusive We have uncovered some other Firefluy FunHouse puppets Bray Wyatt rejected but still liked better than Braun Strowman!

First, “Shiloh the Lonely Laundry Lass” who’s brother was beaten by their natural enemy, the dryer. The second being “Dookie the Diaper Boy” who spits out baby poop. Next is Mandyquin Rose “she whispers plans into Otis’s ears that will trick Braun Strowman into losing his title.” A joke about Strowman’s “size” is made as the mannequin stated “not everything about Braun is a monster”.

Braun Strowman’s music sounds, interrupting “The Dirt Sheet”. Strowman makes his way down the ramp laughing and enters the ring, suddenly growling in the face of The Miz and John Morrison, the jump back and Strowman laughs.

Strowman throws the chairs out of the ring. Strowman states they are funny, and hates to admit it, but the show isn’t half bad. Morrison says he’s pretty sure they weren’t booked tonight. Strowman asks if they have any questions. They look to one another, nothing comes to mind. Strowman then states, “Ask me about Bray Wyatt.”

Miz looks shocked and states, “You taunted and teased Bray Wyatt with that black sheep mask. You think he’s done with you?” He then continues on to state he fought Wyatt, and it sent him spiraling. He had to face constant mental agony.

John then says Strowman isn’t half the man Miz is and that he’d wipe the floor with him one on one. Strowman asks John if that’s a challenge, and he accepts. He calls for a referee.

WWE Universal Champion Braun Strowman vs. The Miz (w/ John Morrison)

As the ring had already been cleared mostly of “The Dirt Sheet” set, and both men are already standing in the ring, no entrances were needed. The referee enters. The bell rings and the match begins. Miz landed a punch, but Strowman shrugs it off like a bug bite. Miz then throws several more strikes, Braun just gave him another right that slams Miz to the canvas.

Strowman then takes control of the match, landing a clubbing blow that sent Miz to the mat hard. Strowman hit a shoulder tackle and then Miz got Braun out of the ring and hit a knee. Johnny Drip Drip hit a dive off the barricade on Strowman and then Miz sent him into the steps before putting him back in.

Miz went for a Springboard move, but Braun grabbed him. Miz landed a Dropkick to the knee. Braun came back with a Bearhug that slams Miz into the corner. Strowman throws Miz across the ring, following up with a right that took Morrison off the apron.

Braun lands a Running Powerslam for the three count and the win!

Winner: Braun Strowman

After the Match

Morrison still feeling empowered, challenges Strowman to defend the WWE Universal Championship against him and Miz in a handicap match at the Backlash pay-per-view. No answer is given.

Intercontinental Title Tournament Match
AJ Styles vs. Shinsuke Nakamura

Both superstars make their way to the ring, the referee signals for the bell. The bell rings and the Intercontinental Title Tournament Match. Nakamura has the upper-hand in this match as it starts off. Styles is slammed to the canvas as we head to commercial break.

As we return from commercial break,Styles performed a Pele Kick on Nakamura. Styles followed up with some clotheslines and a Ushigoroshi Neck-breaker onto his knee. Styles applied the Calf Crusher, but Nakamura reached the ropes to break the hold. Nakamura came back and got a near fall following a Michinoku Driver. Nakamura performed a sliding knee to the head of Styles and covered in arrogant fashion and only got a two count.

Styles gets the cover on Nakamura, Nakamura kicks out at two. Nakamura puts Styles on his shoulders, landing a move and a cover, Styles kicks out at two as well. Nakamura back to his feet, with control of Styles, dragging him to his feet.

Styles lands several Elbows, Nakamura counters with a Flying Knee. Nakamura with a Sliding Knee for the cover, Styles covers once again. Nakamura measuring Styles as Styles rolls Nakamura up for a two count.

Nakamura then counters with a Triangle on Styles who begins to fade, then gets back to his feet and counters for a two count of his own. Nakamura attempts to set Styles up once again, Styles already prepared as he heads to the top turnbuckle. A Phenomenal Forearm from the top landing AJ Styles the three count pin and win!

Winner: AJ Styles

Charlotte Flair and Bayley highlights air, leading up to tonight’s “Champion vs. Champion” match up.

Backstage

We see Bayley backstage where she states to her best friend Sasha Banks that Flair seems to think Bayley can’t win without Banks there, so Bayley decides to head to the ring alone, stating, “I got this”. Banks responds, “I know you do”.

We head to commercial break.

NXT Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair vs. SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley

As we return from commercial break, out first is NXT Women’s Champion, Charlotte Flair. Flair makes her way to the ring in her long feathered purple robe. As she enters the ring, she does a final twirl as her music ends. Bayley’s music sounds as Bayley heads to the stage alone, best friend Sasha Banks remaining backstage. Bayley removes her vest as she enters the ring.

The referee signals for the bell, the bell rings and the match begins. Bayley smiles and Flair heads in. Flair with an early Knee, stating “you’re not ready!” Flair slams Bayley into the turnbuckle. Bayley counters, slamming Flair to the mat, getting a quick two count.

Bayley mocks Flair’s dad’s hand motion and strut inside the ring. Flair grabs Bayley around the waist, Bayley counters with a reversal. Bayley gets a take-down and goes for the cover, putting her feet on the ropes for leverage, the referee points it out, Bayley says, “I’m sorry… Good, I was testing you!” Flair drops Bayley out of the ring, Bayley drops Flair to the apron from the outside. The match continues ringside as the referee begins the count. Flair slams Bayley over the barricade.

Flair walks over, grabbing Michael Cole’s headset shouting, “Sasha, get ur ass out here, so I can kick both y’alls asses at the same time!” Flair re-enters the ring at the count of 9, Bayley still out on the floor writhing in pain as we head to commercial break.

As we return from commercial break, Flair is still in control. “Levels baby, levels, I’m teaching you how to be a champion!” Flair states as she drags Bayley towards the corner. We see Banks watching on a screen backstage. Charlotte heads to the top for her Moonsault, Bayley yanks Flair off the top turnbuckle. Flair tweaks her knee. Bayley gets landed on the outside, Bayley slams Flair into the turnbuckle. Bayley slams Flair into the barricade. Bayley re-enters the ring at six.

Flair follows back into the ring, Bayley has a new energy about her as she wears Flair down on the ropes. Flair with a roll-up, Bayley kicks out at two. Bayley slams Flair and lands a cover, Flair kicks out. Bayley states, “My show!” Bayley locks in a Headlock. Flair reaches towards Bayley, then lands a few good Rights. A Knee to the midsection by Bayley. Bayley goes for a Crossbody, Flair counters and lands a Fall Away Slam on Bayley as she attempted to mock the Queen.

Flair lands a Neck Breaker, followed by slamming Bayley face first into the turnbuckle as she states, “nice to see how Smackdown does it, this is how Charlotte Flair does it.” Flair heads in for a Moonsault, Bayley moves, Flair lands on her feet, landing a big boot on Bayley for the cover. Flair hung up on the second rope. Bayley looking worn out.

Bayley pulls Flair to the corner by her hair. A Running Knee on Flair. Bayley rolls Flair out to the middle. Bayley heads to the top turnbuckle for the Flying Elbow Drop, knees up by Charlotte. Flair looking for a Boston Crab. Bayley reaches for the ropes, Bayley flips Flair with her lower body strength! Bayley side steps and Flair lands face first into the turnbuckle. Bayley to the top, landing the Elbow for the cover, Flair kicks out at two!

Flair starts laughing as Bayley states, “Ok! Okk! You got something to say over there?” as she looks to Michael Cole. Bayley with a Chop. Flair laughs and Bayley lands Chop after Chop. Flair continues to laugh. Bayley attempts the Figure Four, Flair lands a hard right. Flair with massive Chops. Flair rolls up Bayley for the pin, Bayley flips Flair and rolls a pin of her own, using the ropes for the assist. and the three count!

Winner: Bayley

After the Match

“Look at me Queen… look at me!” as Bayley laughs and holds up her championship belt! “I did it myself! I love you Sasha! We did it baby!”

As we head to commercial break.

Sonya Deville & Dolph Ziggler vs. Mandy Rose & Mr. MITB Otis

Out first is Sonya Deville, followed by Dolph Ziggler. Sonya wearing a long black trench and loads of makeup. Sonya and Ziggler make their way down the ramp and enter the ring. “Jealousy, bitterness, backstabbing, betrayal, this story has had everything,” according to Michael Cole on commentary.

Out next is Mandy Rose, then Otis as their music plays them to the stage. They head to the ring together. The referee signals for the bell. The bell rings and the match begins. It looks that Sonya and Mandy are going to start things off, Sonya puts her hair up, but then heads over to Ziggler. Otis hops in stating he wants some of Dolph. Ziggler looks for an early take-down, Otis shoves him off. Otis slams Ziggler in the center of the ring.

Big Splash to Ziggler by Otis in the corner. Ziggler rolls out of harms way. Ziggler tags in Sonya. Mandy enters the ring per the mixed tag team match rules. Sonya shoves Mandy into the corner. “Who’s the boss now, huh?” Mandy shoves Sonya hard following with a take-down. Ziggler attempts to sneak and pull Otis off the apron.

Otis lands on the outside as Ziggler runs and attempts a Crossbody, Otis catches Ziggler but Ziggler breaks free, and assists Otis into the steel stairs shoulder first as we head to commercial break.

As we return from commercial break, Sonya is in control of Mandy. Michael Cole shows a replay from during commercial break. The referee continues the count as Otis instructs that Mandy get back in the ring. Sonya attacking Mandy with Knees and Strikes. Sonya throws Mandy into the corner. Mandy rolls Sonya for a near-fall, Sonya kicks out. Otis is back in the apron.

Otis trying to rally his peach, Mandy. Mandy creates space, Sonya returns with a Kick to the chest of Mandy. Sonya with another Kick to the chest. Mandy with a Running Knee, dropping Sonya. Both girls drag themselves to their sides of the ring. Sonya then turns, grabbing Mandy’s foot. At nine, Mandy jumps for the tag.

Otis in with a full head of steam. Otis powers Ziggler into the corner. Bulldozing Ziggler, followed by a Big Splash. Otis shouts, “Oh yea!” and gets hyped up. Sonya makes the tag. Mandy re-enters, dropping Sonya to the canvas. Mandy with a Running Knee. A Sliding Kick followed by a pin attempt. Sonya kicks out at two. Otis and Ziggler fighting on the outside. Sonya with a Running Knee to the back of the neck of Mandy for the three count.

Winner: Sonya Deville & Dolph Ziggler

After the Match

Otis comes running in as he already attempted to run in for the save. A cheap shot by Ziggler landed to the face of Otis as he was checking on his peach! Both Otis and Mandy writhing in pain as Sonya and Ziggler laugh and head up the ramp.

Backstage – Jeff Hardy

Jeff Hardy in full face paint as he recalls asking the fans to join him for one more good run. He said he didn’t know where that run would lead him, but it’s no longer a mystery. Hardy adds the Intercontinental Title is near and dear to him. Jeff states, “All the positive vibrations I’ve sent out have led me on a new path.”

Jeff continues on to say the IC is the first championship he won on his own. If he could win that, all the ups and downs would come full circle. Adding, beating the bully that has been messing with him would add the icing on the cake. “Ask the Universe, and it provides.” Hardy states. He speaks directly to Sheamus stating he’s coming for him.

We head to commercial.

Shad Gaspard – RIP

Video Package

Forgotten Sons state they’ve had a rough time adjusting to life at home. If their dark times make us uncomfortable, it should. It’s their blood on our hands. What’s only fair is our blood on theirs.

Backstage – The Miz

We see The Miz backstage, stating he isn’t happy about the handicap match. Morrison seems ready. Renee Young speaks to the tag-team stating it was a bold move considering that Strowman has beaten both of them.

Miz states they will make Strowman’s life a miserable hell. They are Miz and Morrison… “Hey, hey! Ho, ho!”

Video Package

We see the highlights of the feud between Jeff Hardy and Sheamus and the events leading up to their match-up as Michael Cole sends us to the video package.

Jeff Hardy vs. Sheamus

Jeff Hardy’s music sounds as he makes his way down the ramp, heading to the ring for his match-up tonight. We head to commercial break.

As we return from commercial break, we see Sheamus head to the stage as his music sounds in the Performance Center. Sheamus makes his way down the ramp and enters the ring. The referee signals for the bell, the bell rings and the match begins.

Sheamus heads in on Hardy immediately, powering Hardy into the corner. Side-headlock by Hardy. Hardy takes Sheamus to the mat. Back and forth action between the two. Sheamus lands a Big Elbow, landing Hardy in the center of the ring. Sheamus bulldozes Hardy to the canvas. Hardy to the top. Sheamus us counter with a hammerlock. Sheamus lands a few strikes. Sheamus chokes Hardy on the bottom rope. Hardy back body drops Sheamus over the top rope.

Hardy attempts a Splash. Sheamus catches him. Sheamus drives Hardy into the ring post. Sheamus slams Hardy on the announce desk. Sheamus gets in Cole’s face stating he’s been talking up Hardy for about four weeks while Sheamus is the one that should be put over. We head to commercial.

As we return from commercial break, Sheamus continues to trash talk Hardy. Hardy drops Sheamus into the corner. Hardy off the top with Whisper in the Wind, giving Hardy the opening. Hardy goes for the pin, Sheamus kicks out at one. From the apron outside of the ring Sheamus kicks at Hardy, sending him across the ring. Irish Backbreaker with a smug smirk. Then another Irish Backbreaker with a smile. Then another.

Sheamus talking more trash, this time to Michael Cole. Sheamus makes an example of Hardy, directly in front of Michael Cole. Sheamus clearly enjoying himself, “best shape of my life”. Corey Graves talking over Sheamus. Hardy back in with a Kick to the midsection. Sheamus slams his shoulder into the post as Hardy side steps.

Hardy knocks Sheamus down. Jeff with Atomic Drop and a Basement Dropkick. More back and forth action between both Superstars. Hardy going for the Twist of Fate, Sheamus esapes to the outside. Hardy on the barricade, delivering a Clothesline on the outside of the ring. The referee begins the count.

Sheamus regains control of the match, toying with Hardy with several strikes and drops. Sheamus goes for a Brogue Kick, Jeff rolls Sheamus for a quick three count pin and win! Sheamus is shocked!

Winner: Jeff Hardy
