WWE gets an extension on ThunderDome setup by Amway Center

WWE was supposed to run through their ThunderDome contract with Amway Center by the end of October. But the deal was extended through November.

It was reported a couple of weeks ago that WWE has finally found a new venue for the ThunderDome setup. They are set to move to Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida, also the home of the Tampa Bay Rays.

The first show at Tropicana Field is supposed to be on December 10. WWE’s extended contract with Amway Center reportedly ended on November 25 and they are to be out of the premises by December 5, per Ringside News.

The WWE Universe speculated whether WWE will move back to Performance Center, now Capitol Wrestling Center, for the little gap in between. However, according to Fightful, that will not be necessary.

Amway Center extends contract till December 7th

WWE is likely to get some more time in hand now, as Amway Center has reportedly extended the contract to facilitate the company’s move to Tropicana Field directly. The current deal allows WWE to run RAW and SmackDown till December 7 from the ThunderDome setup at Amway Center, which they have been using since August’s SummerSlam.

December 7 falls on a Monday. That means WWE will possibly not have to move elsewhere between Amway Center and Tropicana Field. They are set to start broadcasting from the new venue from December 10.

It has also been reported that setting up ThunderDome at Tropicana Field is taking much longer than anticipated. The Tampa Bay venue offers a much bigger open space compared to Amway Center. That is a positive as well as a negative.

There will be much more room for the high-tech experience that ThunderDome provides. But on the other hand, it will take longer to fill up the whole arena as well.

The extension by Amway Center is hopefully going to make the transition as smooth as possible.
