WWE imposing restrictions on UK Stars

When WWE first announced their UK Division, it was very different from their other divisions because the wrestlers were allowed to wrestle for other promotions freely.

The only exception was that the WWE talents were not allowed to wrestle for promotion with broadcasting deals in place, though now things are changing.

With the debut of their UK show and the announcement of the first ever UK Takeover PPV, it’s being reported that WWE is moving forward to make some talents exclusive to their shows.

According to reports from WrestleTalk, WWE has updated their contract with the UK talents and while the new contracts raise their payments, it restricts them from working with any other promotion.

The only exception to this rule are the promotions which have a working relationship with the company like Progress, ICW and wXw (Germany).

This change is reportedly made due to the low attendance figure on UK shows as it made officials believe that people will not pay more money to see stars which they can see on their local indies for much less.

Now it will be interesting to see how these changes in the contract and the various restrictions on the top stars affect the UK indie scenes.
