WWE interested in top NJPW star

WWE is reportedly interested in a top NJPW star.

According to a report from this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE is interested in signing NJPW’s KUSHIDA for NXT after his contract ends with the company.

The current IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion’s contract with NJPW is reportedly going to expire in January of 2019 and that is why the WWE is interested to have him on NXT.

In NJPW, KUSHIDA has won the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship six-times, and has been the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champion two times. He has also won a number of tournaments, the most recent one being the Best of the Super Juniors tournament in 2017. In the West, the 35-year old has the Ring of Honor World Television Championship to his name.
