Sasha Banks defended her Smackdown Women’s Championship against Bianca Belair on Night One of WrestleMania 37, in its main event. It was a historic match as the two competitors gave it their all including the kitchen sink in order to win the match. Ultimately, it was Bianca Belair who emerged victorious in the title match and became the new Smackdown Women’s Champion in the process. The two also had a genuine moment where they shed tears in the ring. Sasha Banks also leaked a photo after cancelling a match.
Sasha Banks was set to face off against Bianca Belair at WWE SummerSlam for the Smackdown Women’s Championship. However, she never showed up and instead, Becky Lynch came out and beat Bianca Belair for the title in under 26 seconds. Sahsa Banks finally returned at WWE Extreme Rules and since then has been involved in the main event scene.
During Sasha Banks match against Smackdown Womens’ Champion Sasha Banks at a WWE Live Event, it was believed that Sasha Banks suffered an injury to her leg during the match. Banks kicked out of an over-the-knee backbreaker from Charlotte Flair. However, she stayed in the ring and the referee pulled up the dreaded ‘X’ sign, which meant something was wrong.
It was then announced by WWE that Sasha Banks will be missing out on 6-8 weeks worth of in-ring action due to a leg injury she suffered during the live event. As reported by Fightful Select, WWE Creative was informed regarding her inability to perform as early as January 3rd.
Fightful Select learned that although the absence was announced Saturday, WWE creative were pretty clear in that Banks wouldn’t be available as early as January 3, after the injury occurred that prior weekend. Leading into that Raw, Fightful was told that Sasha Banks wasn’t expected for the Royal Rumble, and that creatively the company should plan accordingly. As it turns out, Banks is expected to be out 6-8 weeks. As the timetable indicates, she’s not expected to have to miss WrestleMania, and that has been relayed to people of influence in the company, as well.
