There is optimism within WWE that Ronda Rousey will make a full recovery in time for WrestleMania, and the plan to have her and Shayna Baszler win the Women’s Tag Team Titles is still on track. While Rousey’s injury status remains somewhat unclear, sources report that she re-aggravated a previous non-serious injury but should be back soon.
Wrestling Observer Radio’s Dave Meltzer confirmed that the hope is for Rousey and Baszler to still capture the tag titles at WrestleMania, despite the uncertainty surrounding Rousey’s recovery timeline. Last week, WrestlingNews.co revealed that Rousey has been pushing for this outcome, which may have influenced her decision to drop the SmackDown Women’s Title to Charlotte Flair in December.
Bryan Alvarez said, “She re-aggravated a previous non-serious injury and she should be back soon.”
Meltzer added, “From what I understand, she’s limited [and] probably will be out and exactly how much she will be recovered by, when she’s wrestling again, is unknown. But the hope is that they will still win the tag team titles at WrestleMania. That was the original idea. That’s still the hope.”
