WWE made essential after Linda McMahon promised huge payment to Florida

As reported earlier, WWE was deemed as an essential business by Governor Rick DeSantis. It seems a lot took place behind the scene which ultimately led to this decision.

WWE will be able to air live events as long as it is a national broadcast. Now the company will even be able to have a full staff during their television tapings.

According to a report by Stephanie Coueignoux and Jon Alba, it seems there was more to this story than initially expected. It seems a lot of money was promised before this favor was granted for the McMahons.

  • April 1st: Ron DeSantis issues an executive order for essential services. This was after speaking to Trump.
  • April 9th: DeSantis altered the order to include professional sporting events and media productions.
  • April 9th: Linda McMahon announced that her Presidential Super PAC will spend $18.5 million in Tampa and Orlando, Florida.
  • April 10th: Reports broke of Vince McMahon deciding to go live.

There is no concrete proof that the Florida Governor changed his criteria for what is considered as an “essential service” due to Linda McMahon’s promise of $18.5 million dollars to Tampa and Orlando. However, the timeline given certainly does make it seem the events happened in that order.
