WWE Main Event Report – 6/24/14

– Tonight’s WWE Main Event opens up from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with Tom Phillips and Byron Saxton. They announce Renee Young will interview Roman Reigns later tonight.

 


 

– We go to the ring and Dolph Ziggler is sitting on top of a ladder.

Ziggler talks about how grabbing the briefcase changes your life. He says he knows because it happened to him two years ago and it was the greatest moment in his career. Ziggler talks about becoming the World Heavyweight Champion and a “let’s go Ziggler” chant breaks out. Ziggler says because of the fans, that was the greatest moment of his life. Ziggler goes on and says it’s not about stealing the show, it’s about taking what’s his. Rob Van Dam’s music and out he comes.

Rob Van Dam, Dolph Ziggler and Kofi Kingston vs. Jack Swagger, Seth Rollins and

RVD makes his way to the ring followed by Kofi Kingston. Zeb Colter and Jack Swagger are out first for their team. The ring and ramp are surrounded by ladders. WWE Intercontinental Champion Bad News Barrett is out next followed by Seth Rollins.

Swagger and Kofi start the match. They go back and forth until Kofi catapults Swagger and kicks him in the face. Ziggler tags in and drops a big elbow for a 2 count. Ziggler nails a dropkick for another pin attempt. Barrett tags in and they double team Ziggler in the corner. Barrett with a suplex for a 2 count. Ziggler counters and tags in RVD. RVD clotheslines Barrett twice and unloads with kicks. RVD nails Rolling Thunder for a 2 count. Barrett ends up sending RVD to the floor and we go to commercial.

Back from the break and Rollins is in now. He nails the three suplexes on RVD for a 2 count. Swagger tags in and they beat RVD down in the corner. Swagger with a big slam. He goes for the Swagger Bomb and nails it for a 2 count. RVD fights out of a hold and tries to tag but Swagger rams him back into the corner and tags in Barrett. Barrett with a neckbreaker for a 2 count. Barrett stomps on RVD in the corner as fans rally for RVD. Barrett with big knees on the ropes now. Barrett knocks RVD on the apron with a big boot for a 2 count. Swagger tags back in and they keep RVD down. RVD finally tags in Kofi and he springboards in on Rollins. Kofi unloads on Rollins and dropkicks him. Kofi nails the Boom Drop. Rollins dodges Trouble In Paradise and turns it around for a second. More back and forth. Kofi nails SOS for a 2 count as Swagger and Barrett break the pin. Ziggler sends Swagger and himself out. RVD tosses Barrett to the floor. Rollins tosses RVD to the floor. Kofi and Rollins trade pins. Rollins nails the curb stomp for the win.

Winners: Seth Rollins, Jack Swagger and Bad News Barrett

– After the match, Swagger gets the Patriot Lock on Ziggler while Barrett nails RVD with a ladder. Ziggler fights out and drops Swagger but gets hit with a ladder off the apron. Barrett turns on Swagger, lays him out and hits a Bullhammer.

– We get a replay of Summer Rae and Fandango on SmackDown. Fandango approaches Layla backstage now and has a flower for her but she’s upset. Fandango says Layla is the only one that’s ever danced her way into his heart and will always be his one and only dance partner. They have a long kiss for the camera.

– We get a replay of Vickie Guerrero’s farewell on RAW.

Fandango vs. Bo Dallas

Fandango and Layla make their way out as we go to commercial.

Back from the break and Bo Dallas makes his way out. Before they can get going, Summer Rae comes out and catfights with Layla in and out of the ring. Referees finally separate them but they scrap some more on the ramp. Fandango comes in the ring and catches a running Bo-dog for the squash.

Winner: Bo Dallas

– After the match, Bo says woman are interesting creatures but they will work it out if they just Bo-lieve.

Ryback and Curtis Axel vs. Xavier Woods and R-Truth

R-Truth and Xavier Woods are out first with Truth rapping. Ryback and Curtis Axel are out next. Truth and Ryback start the match off. Woods tags in and unloads on Ryback. Ryback misses a clothesline and eats some more kicks. Ryback catches Woods in mid-air and nails a big powerslam for a 2 count. Ryback with a big suplex and a knee drop. Axel tags in and they double team Woods.

Axel keeps control and hits a running knee to the head for a 2 count. Woods fights out of a headlock but gets slammed back down. Ryback tags in for more offense on Woods. Truth finally tags in and unloads on Axel. Truth with a big jawbreaker for a 2 count. Truth with a splash in the corner and a big DDT for another 2 count as Ryback breaks the pin. Woods fights Ryback off but gets dumped to the floor. Truth takes out Ryback. Truth misses a splash on Ryback in the corner. Axel nails the Axe-hole on Truth for the win.

Winners: Ryback and Curtis Axel

– After the match, Ryback tells the crowd to shut up and takes the mic. He challenges Stardust and Goldust to a match at Money In the Bank and insult them.

– Still to come, Renee’s interview with Reigns.

– Back from the break and Renee Young is in the ring. She brings out Roman Reigns and here he comes through the crowd.

Renee asks about the match at Money In the Bank for the WWE World Heavyweight Title. Reigns is going to get to that but first, says he’s a wanted man with a bulls-eye on his chest. He says this feels like a trap. Reigns asks Renee to take off her high heels because if something goes down, she’s going to have to run real fast. Reigns says he doesn’t care who’s in the match, even John Cena. Reigns says he ran the yard with The Shield and nothing changes. Reigns says when he wins the title, he will take his rightful place at the head of the table. Believe that. Renee says Reigns has overlooked Randy Orton. Reigns asks how could he ever forget about Orton. Reigns calls Orton the most spoiled little brat WWE has ever seen. Reigns says he’s not here to hold Orton’s hand or wipe his ass, he’s here to kick it. Renee asks about Kane next. Reigns says he’s not like everybody else being scared of Kane. Reigns says he’s ready to attack. Assess and attack, this is what he does. Triple H appears on the big screen and mocks Reigns. Triple H announces Reigns vs. Kane for SmackDown. The pyro hits and Triple H sends Kane to the ring.

Kane comes out and they brawl until Reigns sends him over the top rope. Kane stares back at Reigns from the ramp and makes the ring explode with pyro. Reigns’ music hits and they continue the staredown as Main Event goes off the air.
