WWE might be preparing for Shayna Baszler’s main roster call-up

Shayna Baszler

Shayna Baszler will be defending her NXT Women’s Title against Candice LeRae on NXT next week on the USA Network. We might be seeing the last of her in NXT if WWE decides to call her up.

On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer said that Baszler will eventually end up on the main roster by 2020. However, there is a chance that WWE might just call her up sooner.

WWE promised fewer commercial breaks for their October 2nd episode of NXT. So if Baszler drops her title during the show, it might make fans want to tune in to NXT.

With the WWE draft taking place on October 11th and 14th, it would be an appropriate time for her to drop her title. We will get to know in due time what becomes of Baszler.

I say this as a worlds cutest tag team fan. There’s no way Shayna loses to Candice. This is WWE/NXT Candice not PWG Tag Team champion Candice. It’s more likely that Ridley beats Shayna

“Anyone on twitter, etc. would know about the surprise almost instantly, and then switch the channel to wwe, giving them a ratings spike”

That’s the theory at work in wwe

Dave Meltzer and his wonderful open ended predictions. “She will be called up by 2020 but maybe sooner”.

Everyone knows it is only a matter of time before she gets called up, so nothing Meltzer is saying has any weight behind it, just the same speculation most fans would make.

As for this article though, I do not get this paragraph at all. “WWE promised fewer commercial breaks for their October 2nd episode of NXT. So if Baszler drops her title during the show, it might make fans
want to tune in to NXT.”

Firstly how does there being less commercials and Shana losing her title have any connection?
Secondly, if she loses her title why will that cause more people to tune in? Are you suggesting people have stopped watching because of her championship reign?
Or, like in another article where it was mentioned that Lesnars surprise appearance on SD did not pull in any extra ratings, are you suggesting that something that is not pre-advertised will make a difference to ratings?
Nobody will know she has lost her title until after it has happened because the show is live, so how can something bring any extra ratings if it is a surprise?
