WWE might have more issues with future events in Saudi Arabia

WWE Saudi Arabia

WWE’s 10-year deal with Saudi Arabia will last another 8+ years. However, due to WWE moving to FOX Network this year, that might cause complications for that partnership.

SmackDown is moving to Fox on Fridays in October and this deal was made last year itself. However, Saudi Arabia also wants events to take place on Fridays and this could pose a problem.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted that due to FOX Network having Smackdown Live on Fridays, Saudi Arabia has requested the same day of the week for their future shows. Owing to this, WWE might have to think of something.

Right now for 11/1, the WWE has a listing for a FOX show from Newark, NJ and a show in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and King Saad University Stadium. So that would either mean split crews or they’d have to change the Saudi date

The next Saudi Arabia event will take place on November 1st. However, that date can easily be changed if Saudi Arabia wants it to. We will keep you updated regarding this situation when we know more.

They still called 205 Live “Live” even when it wasn’t live because of the Mixed Match Challenge. They still call it Smackdown Live when it’s filmed in the UK, and aired several hours later.

  • Keith Learmonth

    This is the obvious solution.

  • gar216

The Fox Smackdown logo doesn’t list it as Smackdown Live, does it?

  • gar216

    That’s actually a good idea!

  • Kayfabe_Is_Dead

    Big deal…

  • Sparti Love

Then it won’t be live at 8pm est

  • Sparti Love

Then it won’t be SD Live

  • Scott Goldsworthy

Anyone wanna bet the 11/1 SD will be an all woman’s edition. Promoted and hyped as a major deal when we all know it won’t be.

And they get a house show pretending to be a PPV .. A televised event would be more impressive than what they actually get.

  • Kayfabe_Is_Dead

I’m pretty sure they could pre-record Smackdown on Tuesday then fly to Saudi. That’s pretty much what they’ve always done in the past…

  • Wicka Steve

Eff the saudis and their stupid hats.

  • Will Henderson

but the Saudis want a WWE PPV. not a 2 hour TV show episode.

  • Soulshroude

Since when does Saudi Arabia call the shots? WWe sold out to the Prince..

  • Whistling Joe

Of course WWE is going to have more issues doing saudi shows, SAUDI ARABIA IS BARBARIC!

  • CC

Or maybe they could stop the Saudi shows being glorified house shows, and just use them as Smackdown tapings.
