WWE RAW RESULTS (2/24): WINNIPEG, MB., CANADA

Opening Segment

A recap from the last several episodes of RAW where Randy Orton has attacked multiple superstars, the phrase, “I’m Sorry” in Orton’s voice repeated over and over during each clip.

The RAW theme song begins as the opening package is shown. We enter the Bells MTS Place Arena in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada for the first time in 15 years. “In My Veins” begins playing as Randy Orton makes his way to the stage and is officially announced. As Orton makes his way down the ramp towards the ring, we go to the announcer’s table.

Commentator’s Opening Announcements

Jerry Lawler, Tom Phillips, and Byron Saxton speak on Drew McIntyre’s match against Ricochet this Thursday at Super ShowDown. Next, a reminder that Brock Lesnar is in the building tonight. Two matches are confirmed for tonight on RAW, Seth Rollins vs. Montez Ford and Murphy vs. Angelo Dawkins. Last, six women are set to sign the contract tonight for the Women’s Elimination Chamber Match making the match official for the number one contender to go against Becky Lynch!)

Orton In-Ring Explanation…

Back to Orton, who is standing inside the ring. Orton begins speaking, “I apologize” as the crowd boos. Orton says he isn’t one to get emotional, but lately he’s become “unbalanced”. Orton shares he was told that 15 years ago was the last time RAW was in Winnipeg, where he was 24 years old.

At that time, a man punched him in the face. The same man that helped him with his destructive ways, a man that he loved like a brother… a man named Adam. Orton goes on to say that Adam was known to the fans as, Edge. The crowd pops, a chant of “we want Edge!” begins.

Orton responds, “Ladies and Gentleman, Edge can’t be here tonight because of what I did to him almost a month ago.” Orton goes on to say nobody can begin to understand why he did what he did, but what he did, he’s truly sorry for from the bottom of his heart. The crowd boos and murmurs again.

Kevin Owens Joins Randy Orton In-Ring

Kevin Owens music sounds, interrupting Randy Orton’s speech. Owens makes his way down the ramp and enters the ring with Orton as the crowd continues cheering. The crowd begins to chant, “Kevin Owens! Kevin Owens!” to which Owens pauses, adding, “sorry, I had to pause while they chanted my name.”

Owens continues on to say he has had to deal with plenty of delusional people over the past few months including AOP, Buddy Murphy, and “The Monday Night Idiot” Seth Rollins. He says he has an issue with Orton tonight. Owens tells Orton he doesn’t think he means it. Owens continues on to say cut the apology, and tell us why he did it. Orton responds, “You don’t want to go down that road.” Owens says he thinks he does.

Owens says he remembers what it was like to watch Edge retire, then to watch the look in Edge’s eyes when he made his come back and for Orton to take that away, and the chance for Owens to someday possibly enter the ring with Edge.

Owens says he doesn’t think the fans want to hear them continue talking, so they should go ahead and get down to it. Orton asks if he wants a match with him tonight in Winnipeg. Owens nods and gets hyped up to which Orton responds, “You got it, but not yet.” Orton drops the mic and exits the ring.

Backstage With Angel Garza and Zelina

Zelina says the only business she and Garza have with “Humbeeeeerto” is the necessary chore of taking out the trash. Zelina says that Angel is a man’s man and that he has to put his awkward cousin Carrillo where he belongs. Once Humberto is kicked to the curb, there’s nothing keeping Garza from the top spot.

Garza adds, “There’s business and there’s pleasure, with you Charly, business… is always a pleasure.”

We go to commercial.

Heyman starts off saying his name is “Paul Heyman” and continues he is “the advocate for the reigning, defending, undisputed, WWE Heavyweight Champion of the world… Brock Lesnar!”

Heyman continues on to say that Lesnar doesn’t need a catch phrase. The fact that since 2002, every time he wants to, reigns as the WWE champion. Taking superstars to Suplex City is a rare event, it’s special, according to Heyman. So when “the master of the uppercut” takes on Lesnar this Thursday, because Lesnar feels like it, it’s special.

But it’s more special than usual, because the stakes have never been higher for a Brock Lesnar match. But why, Heyman continues, as the crowd boos. If Ricochet pulls off the miracle of miracles and goes on to defend the WWE Title against Drew McIntyre, the consequences are ground breaking which will change the events around Wrestlemania.

Heyman finishes, IF that happens, IF his aunt had balls, she’d be his uncle, but she doesn’t, so she’s not… and Brock Lesnar will win and go on to Wrestlemania. He confirms it’s not a prediction, but a spoiler.

Brock Lesnar holds his championship belt high above his head, then rolls out of the ring, followed by Paul Heyman as they make their way back up the ramp. Lesnar climbs up on the announcer’s table at the top of the ramp and once again holds his belt over his head.
