15 long years have passed since late WWE star Chris Benoit murdered his wife and son before committing suicide in a tragedy that shook the pro-wrestling fraternity to its core. A lot has been said about Benoit’s heinous actions over the years. WWE had removed all mentions of Benoit from their platforms in the wake of the tragedy. Former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon banned company employees from namedropping the ‘Rabid Wolverine’. However, Benoit made a cameo appearance, at least in some capacity during WWE’s Tribute to the Troops advertisement.

WWE aired a vignette for the upcoming Tribute to the Troops TV special during Raw this week. John Cena narrated the video package, which briefly showed Benoit as part of the first-ever Tribute to the Troops in 2003.
The eagle-eyed fans spotted Benoit and took to Twitter to share their two cents on WWE showing a shot of the former World Heavyweight Champion on live television.

WWE taped the 2022 Tribute to The Troops TV special last Friday after SmackDown, but didn’t reveal the airdate. Last night, the company finally announced the scheduled date of their upcoming broadcast. The 20th annual Tribute to The Troops TV special will air from the Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana, on Sunday, December 17th. Read the full announcement below:
