WWE Name Goes To Rehab After Controversial Firing

Former WWE NXT referee Drake Wuertz, also known in the wrestling world as Drake Younger recently revealed that he has checked into a rehabilitation facility. Taking to his Instagram account, he posted a selfie and wrote:

“Today, with the help and urging of some incredible friends that really care about me staying alive, I checked into a rehabilitation facility. I am finally surrendering and getting the help I need. When I get out of here, I’m going to be better than ever. Thank you all for the support, the love, and the prayers. I have five beautiful children and an amazing wife to come home to.
I need to be the best version of me for them first. I will also be the best version of the performer that you all know and enjoy but saving my life and family comes first.
It’s somewhat embarrassing to type this, but at the same; I have lost friend after friend after friend to this disease… I can’t help to think what could’ve happened had they been offered the opportunity that I have right now(?)

I love you all and I have no idea when I’m going to be back on here. We’re going to do this guys. We are winning and this story will have an incredibly happy ending.

Love,
Drake Younger”

Last year, Drake Wuertz declared his retirement from professional wrestling. Wuertz had been a part of WWE’s developmental system for a large portion of the 2010s, having adjudicated high-profile matches during NXT’s heyday and even serving as a main roster referee.

Notably, at WrestleMania 34, he and Kurt Angle were in the ring as Ronda Rousey made her WWE debut against Triple H and Stephanie McMahon. Wuertz had established himself as a hard-core independent wrestler before joining WWE, frequently participating in promotions such as CZW. Many people have faith in his bright future in the WWE because of his skill and commitment to his craft. Wuertz’s career path, however, took an unforeseen turn, which resulted in his 2021 WWE release.

It has been noted that his right-wing political views, notably his vocal opposition to mask policies during the peak of the pandemic drew negative attention. This became the catalyst for his departure from the company.
