It has been a few months since CM Punk returned, but he has not competed in a WWE ring in six years. That might not be changing anytime soon.
On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer talked about how it was not known how long CM Punk would have been on WWE Backstage. He says that he does not think WWE ever planned to go beyond the monthly Backstage appearances of CM Punk and it is not even clear how long that would have lasted.
He added that WWE is a lot more negative towards the idea of Punk wrestling than he thought. Between Goldberg, Edge, Undertaker and so on, Meltzer thinks that WWE has more than enough veteran part-timers. He also added that WWE is more “bitter” towards Punk than the other way round, which is not what Meltzer expected.
We will have to see what Punk does in the end.
