WWE NXT Report – 12/25/14

We are in Winter Park, Florida and Renee Young and Corey Graves are your hosts for a look back at the best of 2014 in NXT.

 


 

Corey mentions that we will see Ric Flair in the corner of his daughter tonight when Charlotte faces Sasha Banks in an NXT Women’s Title Match.

Renee says that NXT has been a cornerstone of the WWE Network. Corey mentions Paige and how she dominated in the Women’s Divison in NXT and then she wins the WWE Divas Title on her first night. Renee talks about Bo Dallas. Corey brings up Rusev and Lana. He mentions that Rusev is still undefeated.

Renee mentions NXT Arrival. We take a look back at highlights from NXT Arrival.

Corey mentions Adrian Neville winning the NXT Title from Bo Dallas in the first ladder match in NXT. Adrian went on to be one of the most dominant champions in NXT, until he lost to Sami Zayn a few weeks ago.

Renee mentions that Adrian Neville was able to go back to Newcastle when the WWE was in the United Kingdom. We see footage from his homecoming, including surprising his mother. We see him visiting Newcastle’s football team and stadium. He mentions that he wanted to play football until he decided he wanted to become a wrestler. He would have to go to his aunt’s house because his parents didn’t want him watching wrestling.

We see where Adrian trained to be a wrestler. He mentions all of the people who doubted him, but his mother says that he proved her wrong.

We see Adrian walking out in the arena in Newcastle and the reaction he got from the frans.

We go to commercial.

We are back and Tyler Breeze is here to wish all of his WannaBreeze a Merry Christmas. He says that he will not change a thing. The only thing he will add to his ensemble is gold.

Renee and Corey talk about the match between Adrian Neville and Sami Zayn from NXT Takeover: R Evolution as well as what happened after the match ended. (They showed the last few minutes of the match, but here is my full match report from the show)

They stare each other down and then Zayn looks around the building and listens to the crowd that is clearly behind him for this match.

Neville shows a little frustration because of Sami’s apparent stalling.

They lock up and Neville with a waist lock take down into a front face lock. Zayn escapes and applies a hammer lock. Neville with a wrist lock. Zayn with a reversal but Neville escapes. Zayn with a side head lock take down and Neville with a head scissors. Zayn escapes and Neville with a side head lock take down. Zayn with a head scissors and Neville escapes.

They tease a test of strength but they lock up. Zayn with a reverse chin lock but Neville escapes and applies a hammer lock and drops an elbow to the shoulder. Neville with a reverse chin lock. Zayn gets back to his feet. Zayn with a hammer lock but Neville with a wrist lock. Neville blocks an arm drag and takes Zayn to the mat. Neville with a back drop into a key lock.

Neville with a wrist lock and Zayn is able to reverse but Neville lands on his feet on an arm wringer attempt. They lock up and Neville with a wrist lock into an arm bar. Zayn with an Irish whip but Neville floats over and flips across the ring. Neville goes to the apron and he connects with a shoulder from the apron. Zayn with a tilt-a-whirl back breaker and Neville goes to the floor.

Zayn with a back heel kick and then Zayn with an Arabian press onto Neville. Zayn returns to the ring. Neville takes his time getting back into the ring.

Neville gets back in the ring and he connects with a back elbow. Neville sends Zayn into the turnbuckle and he follows with a nap mare and drop kick to the back of the head for a near fall. Neville with a reverse chin lock Neville takes Zayn to the mat with a reverse chin lock.

Zayn with an arm drag but Neville with a running European uppercut into the corner and he gets a near fall. Neville with a knee drop to the head and he connects with a second knee drop. Neville comes off the ropes for a third knee drop and he adds some height to this one and he gets a near fall. Neville with a rear chin lock.

Zayn gets back to his feet and he backs Neville into the turnbuckles to get out of the hold. Neville with an elbow and he goes to the turnbuckles for a missile drop kick and he connects and gets a near fall. Neville has some words with the referee before returning his focus to Sami. Neville kicks Zayn in the head but Zayn with a chop. Neville with Kawada kicks but Zayn with a clothesline.

Zayn with another clothesline and he hits a drop kick. Neville goes to the floor and he goes up the ramp. Zayn goes for a dive but Neville gets back into the ring and he hits a head scissors that sends Zayn to the floor. Neville is back dropped over the top rope to the floor and Zayn with a flip dive onto Neville.

Zayn sends Neville back into the ring and Zayn goes up top and hits a cross body for a near fall. Zayn picks up Neville for a suplex but Neville gets to his feet. Neville and Zayn with reversals. Neville goes for a handspring into a reverse rana but Zayn catches Neville on his shoulders and he hits a modified Blue Thunder Bomb and he gets a near fall.

Neville with a jawbreaker and a running European uppercut into the corner. Zayn runs into a boot from Neville and then Neville hits a German suplex and bridge for a near fall. Neville tries for a power bomb but Zayn blocks it. Neville tries for a piledriver but Zyan blocks it. Neville avoids an arm drag and he hits a power bomb for a near fall. Neville walks around the ring and then he picks up Zayn. Neville with forearms but Zayn stays on his feet. Zayn gets in Neville’s face and he wants Neville to give him more. They go back and forth until Neville connects with a series of kicks. Neville misses a basement drop kick and Zayn with a clothesline and he misses the Helluva kick. Neville with a kick to Zayn and Zayn is down on the mat in front of the corner.

Neville goes up top for Red Arrow but Zayn gets his knees up and he puts Neville in the Koji Clutch. Neville tries to get out of the hold but Zayn pulls Neville into the center of the ring. Neville is able to get his foot on the ropes and the referee forces Zayn to release the hold. Zayn sets for the Exploder into the corner but Neville counters into a rollup for a near fall.

When Zayn kicks out of the cover, Neville and the referee bump heads and the referee is out momentarily.

Neville with a super kick and a reverse rana but Zayn kicks out. Zayn tries to get his bearings. Zayn with a forearm but Neville with a forearm. Neville with a forearm to a charging Zayn. Neville misses a round kick and Zayn with a German suplex and he hits on for a second one. He holds on and tries for a third one but it is turned into a half nelson suplex. Neville rolls to the floor to avoid the Helluva kick.

Zayn dives through the bottom and middle rope for a tornado DDT. Zayn rolls Neville into the ring and he sets for the Helluva kick but the referee is pulled into the corner and the referee catches a bit of the boot. Neville falls to the floor while the referee is out.

Neville tries to use the belt but Zayn kicks Neville and the belt is down in the ring. Zayn thinks about using the title belt, but he figures that the referee will turn around at the wrong moment. While the referee is still down, Zayn continues to have his crisis of confidence and he throws out a few choice words.

Neville with a rollup for a near fall. Zayn with an Exploder into the corner followed by the Helluva Kick and the three count.

Winner: Sami Zayn

After the match, Zayn celebrates his victory and he cannot believe that he has won the title. Zayn falls to his knees.

The locker room comes out to celebrate with Zayn and the first person in the ring is Kevin Owens. They hug in the ring while everyone else enters.

Pat Patterson is also in the ring to celebrate with his fellow Quebecois.

Neville gets back to his feet and he approaches Zayn. Zayn puts the title belt down and he offers his hand to Neville. Neville kicks his hand away and he hugs Zayn.

Owens throws Zayn down to the ramp after everyone leaves and then he hits a power bomb onto the apron.

Corey mentions that they hope to get an update on Sami’s medical condition soon.

We go to commercial.

We are back and we see William Regal with Curtis Axel in his office. Curtis tells Regal he likes his set up. Curtis says that he is ready to rejuvenate his career and he wants in. It is time for him to get noticed.

Regal likes that Curtis wants to be a part of NXT because it is a hot ticket. William says that he might be able to find a spot for him, but this is not the time and he tells Curtis to make an appointment with him if he wants to talk.

We see a video package for the Lucha Dragons and the Vaudevillains.

Cara and Gotch start things off and they lock up. Cara with a wrist lock and Cara with a springboard forearm and clothesline. Cara with a springboard moonsault for a near fall. Cara with a kick and he takes Gotch and English down with a head scissors and arm drag. Kalisto tags in and they hit a series of kicks and Kalisto with a wheelbarrow assisted senton for a near fall.

Cara tags back in and Cara with a drop kick. Cara with a Michinoku Driver and he gets a near fall. Gotch tries for a hip toss but Cara blocks it. English tags in and Cara sends him to the floor. English pulls Cara out of the ring when Cara goes for a sunset flip on Gotch. English sends Cara back into the ring and he gets a near fall.

English with kicks to Cara followed by elbows and he gets a near fall. Gotch tags in and they hit a double clothesline to the front and back and Gotch gets a near fall. Gotch with a reverse chin lock and then he works on the neck. Gotch with a rollup for a near fall. Gotch with a front face lock and English tags in. They both chop Cara and English with a near fall.

English punches Cara and he Irish whips Cara. Cara with an elbow but English rolls Cara through the ropes to the floor and English kicks Cara into the guardrails. English pulls Kalisto off the apron and that allows English to connect with forearms and he sends Cara into their corner. Gotch tags in and he kicks Cara while English chokes him with his boot.

Gotch with a forearm and Cara tries to roll through to make the tag but Gotch stops him and he hits a belly-to-back suplex and gets a near fall. Gotch grabs the leg and he tags in English. English with a boot to Cara followed by a knee to the head. English gets a near fall on Cara. English with a rear chin lock followed by an Irish whip.

English puts Cara on the turnbuckles but Cara fights out of the corner and he flips over English to tag in Kalisto and Kalisto with a springboard cross body and he knocks Gotch off the apron. Kalisto with a corkscrew cross body and then he hits a handspring round kick. Cara takes care of Gotch and then Kalisto kicks Gotch to the floor. They send English over the top rope to the floor.

Kalisto and Cara go for stereo planchas and they both hit English when English pushes Gotch out of the way. Gotch rolls Kalisto back into the ring but Kalisto with Salida Del Sol for the three count.

Winners: Kalisto and Sin Cara

Corey mentions that the Vaudevillains will get another chance at the Lucha Dragons for the titles because the wrong person was pinned in the match at R Evolution. We do not know when it will take place, but it is coming.

We are back and we are told that Hideo Itami and Finn Balor will face The Ascension one more time next week on NXT.

Itami and Balor were asked about the match. Hideo mentions that the Ascension tried to ruin his debut and next week they destroy the Ascension. Finn says that they were greeted by the Ascension on their way in, but they will send the Ascension out the door.

Renee talks about the pressure to come into NXT. Corey mentions the pressure he felt the first time he stood in a WWE ring. If you don’t make it in NXT, you won’t make it on the main roster.

We take a look at some of the debuts in NXT in 2014. We see Baron Corbin, Bull Dempsey, Hideo Itami, Finn Balor, and Kevin Owens.

Kevin is asked about the impact he has made in NXT and the message he is trying to send. Kevin says in the span of seven days, he sent the former champion and the brand new champion to the hospital on stretchers. If he will do that to people he has considered friends for years, what will he do to people he doesn’t like. He will fight everyone and anyone until he is the last one. He suggests they should put that on a t-shirt.

Corey and Renee talk about the impact that Kevin Owens has made.

Renee mentions that some people have moved from NXT to the main roster in the last year. We take a look at Paige, Bo Dallas, Emma, Summer Rae, Adam Rose, and Rusev.

We see Rich Brennan with Bayley and she is watching the Triple H DVD and the part about coming back from his injury. Rich asks her about her knee and she says the rehab is going well. She vows to come back bigger, stronger, and better than ever.

We go to our special match this week and your announcers are Jason Albert, Rich Brennan, and Alex Riley.

Ric Flair says that he used to have a saying that it was hard to be humble. He said that about himself in the past, but now that he is retired and with two Hall of Fame rings. His daughter was not handed the torch, but took it. Two weeks ago, her and Charlotte had a great match. He says that he is proud to say the greatest Diva in the history of the world is going to walk down the aisle right now.

Match Number One: Sasha Banks (with Becky Lynch) versus Charlotte (with Ric Flair) for the NXT Women’s Title

Sasha pushes Charlotte as the bell rings and they exchange punches. Charlotte takes Sasha to the mat and she hits a few knee drops to the leg. Sasha with elbows but Charlotte with a spinebuster and then she drops down on the knee one more time. Charlotte wrings Sasha’s leg into the ring post. Charlotte takes too long and Sasha pulls Charlotte into the ring post.

We go to commercial.

We are back and Sasha with a forearm to the back and then she sends Charlotte into the turnbuckles. Sasha puts Charlotte in the ropes and connects with shots to the back while Charlotte’s leg hangs in the ropes. Sasha with a near fall. Sasha with a rear chin lock as Sasha talks to Ric Flair at ringside.

Sasha with a knee in the back as she holds on to the chin lock. Charlotte gets back to her feet but Sasha with an Irish whip. Charlotte gets her boot up but Sasha continues with the attack and she puts Charlotte on the middle rope and hits a double knee drop for a near fall. Sasha with a Japanese stranglehold and she drives her knees into Charlotte’s back.

Charlotte gets Sasha on her back and hits a running backpack stunner and both women are down. Sasha misses a clothesline and Charlotte with chops and she tries for a suplex but Sasha lands on her feet. Charlotte with a neck breaker and then she goes for a knee drop but Sasha rolls out of the way. Sasha with a backslide for a near fall. Sasha with a cross arm neck breaker for a near fall.

Sasha with a lungblower and she floats through into the Bank Statement but Charlotte is able to grab the ropes to force Sasha to release the hold. Charlotte rolls to the floor. Sasha goes for a suicide dive but Charlotte with a forearm that stops her. Charlotte goes up top but Sasha with a forearm and she sets for a superplex. Sasha hits the superplex and then she rolls over but Charlotte kicks out at two. Sasha with a punch and forearms. Charlotte with a wheelbarrow front driver. Sasha with an inside cradle for a near fall. Charlotte with a figure four leg lock and she adds a bridge to force Sasha to tap out.

Winner: Charlotte

We go to credits.
