WWE NXT Superstar’s party could be cause for NXT COVID-19 outbreak

As reported earlier, NXT saw an outbreak of the Coronavirus recently. Owing to this, the company had to change plans for the show, which included a match for this week’s show. Now it seems a possible reason for the spreading has been revealed.

It is not known how WWE conducts its contract tracing. It seems the possible cause for the outbreak was due to an NXT Superstar holding a party, which other Superstars and trainees attended. According to a report by PW Insider, the belief is that the virus was transferred from asymptomatic individuals at the party, which then spread to others.

“The belief among several sources is that the outbreak started after a NXT talent threw a party that fellow trainees attended, leading to an asymptomatic transmission of the virus that then spread among those who work and train in the Performance Center.”

The report also stated that due to the outbreak, Superstars who are usually not in the main event scene were included in the Gauntlet Eliminator match. The women’s battle royal also included Superstars who were not seen on TV in order to fill out the match.
