WWE Payback apparently ‘an experiment’ following SummerSlam

WWE Payback will be taking place on August 30th, which is one week after SummerSlam. The reason for this event has been debated for a while now, as many wondered why it is taking place so soon following SummerSlam.

Reports suggested that WWE is not trying to do a “scorched earth” move by booking Payback on August 30th. According to Dave Meltzer, the Payback pay-per-view is an experiment by WWE. It is likely the company will end SummerSlam with an angle that will see its conclusion at Payback.

Just an experiment to see how it works. They must have an idea for a hot angle coming off SummerSlam that they felt needed an immediate follow-up. That or, it was just an idea they are trying.

So far, WWE has only booked one match for the pay-per-view, which is for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles. With just over a week left, the company has a lot of planning to do. We will have to see what they have planned for the event.
