WWE planning a tournament as backup plan for Brock Lesnar?

As we noted before Braun Strowman is expected to be out for 4-6 weeks due to his injury, but the actual time he will be on the shelf can be only be decided after his surgery takes place.

Due to this some recent reports from Wrestling Observer are suggesting that WWE might be planning a tournament of some sorts to decide Brock Lesnar’s next opponent if Strowman is not able to make it to Great Balls Of Fire.

It has been rumoured from quite sometimes that Braun Strowman is scheduled to face Brock Lesnar at the Great Balls Of Fire PPV in July and then again at SummerSlam for his Universal Championship.

However, if Braun is out for more than 6 weeks, it’s possible that he may miss the upcoming Raw exclusive PPV. Since Brock is already being advertised for the show, it will not be a wise choice to pull him out of the event.

So in such case, they’ll have to find a new opponent for the Beast and conducting a tournament seems a good idea for doing so, only if WWE can pull it off correctly. Although not much is known about this tournament or its participants at the moment.

Also, these talks are only in the primary stage currently and the plans are dependent on Strowman’s status for the PPV. And even if he can’t make it to the show, it’s possible WWE may choose an entirely different direction and not conduct a tournament at all.

We’ll be updating more details on the situation as they come to light. Stay tuned with us for all the latest wrestling news.
