The WWE Draft is a highly anticipated event among wrestling fans and takes place over two episodes of television. However, the company also ensures that other outlets get to share in the excitement of the draft by saving some selections for them.
SmackDown LowDown, a show that streams in full on WWE Network/Peacock with highlights on YouTube and other platforms, was given the opportunity to finish out the first part of the 2023 Draft. During the show, hosts Scott Stanford and Matt Camp revealed where the wrestlers who weren’t selected from the Night One pool on SmackDown the previous night would be headed, at least for the time being.
Some wrestlers will be free agents, which means they can appear on either show, with their permanent landing spot presumably determined at a future date. Omos is one of the wrestlers who will be a free agent. It was revealed that MVP negotiated Omos’ free agent status.
One of the free agents, Von Wagner, is an NXT wrestler who wasn’t included in the pool for the draft. Three other surprises from the developmental brand also made the jump to the main roster in this round of the Draft – JD McDonagh, Zoey Stark, and former United States champion Apollo Crews, who is returning to the main roster. They all went to Raw, and in fact, Team Red got the vast majority of the talent selected on this day of the draft.
It’s worth noting that while the WWE Draft takes place over two nights, the company also makes additional selections for other platforms to ensure that the excitement is shared among a wider audience.
