WWE Monday Night RAW Results (August 3, 2020)

Show Opening

Just two weeks away from the pay-per-view event SummerSlam Byron Saxton, Tom Phillips, and Samoa Joe are shown sitting at the announcer’s table at ringside. Phillips states, “We apologize, something must have went wrong from our live feed truck…”

United States Championship Title Match
Apollo Crews vs. MVP

Apollo Crews interrupts as Phillips is breaking down tonight’s edition of WWE Monday Night RAW. Crews makes his way down the ramp and enters the ring. The lights go out. Saxton states there is currently weather difficulties in the area after Phillips asked, “Are we still on the air?” Out next is MVP accompanied by Shelton Benjamin and Bobby Lashley. The match is officially announced as MVP wears his self-made Championship belt. MVP visibly upset as Apollo is announced as the champion. The referee holds up both Championship belts.

Somebody needs to drop some truth gems on the people, because at Extreme Rules, you didn’t show up. Lashley put the Full Nelson on you, and you made excuses… while I made history. After tonight, our beef is done, as I will go on as the REAL Champion, and you can hang out in catering like you’re supposed to.” MVP drops the mic. The referee signals for the bell. The bell rings and the first match of the evening is officially underway!

The two superstars circle the ring, Crews flips MVP across the ring, the match heads to the canvas with a creative grappling match. Crews pins MVP for the two count, Crews gestures, “that close” to putting MVP away. Stomp to the left foot of Apollo Crews. The lights continue to flicker as MVP lands an Uppercut on Crews, followed by a Forearm Strike. Crews Clotheslines MVP followed by a Snap Suplex for a 2 count.

Apollo Crews with control of MVP’s arm. MVP with a Big Forearm, knocking Crews to the mat. Crews responds with multiple Forearms and Strikes of his own. Hurt Business pulls MVP out of the ring. Crews off the ropes, running and flying over the top rope, landing on all three members of the Hurt Business as we head to our first commercial break!

Return From Commercial Break

As we return from commercial break, commentary discusses how this match originally was supposed to take place at the Horror Show at Extreme Rules, but Apollo Crews wasn’t medically cleared. Since that night, MVP has told the world he is now the United States Champion, going as far as to having a customized championship belt made for himself.

MVP has taken control since the break, according to commentary. MVP looks concerned as the lights continue to flicker as MVP gets another two count on Crews. Crews goes up top and hits a Crossbody, building his momentum and turning this match around. The crowd pops!

Spine Buster by Crews, followed by the cover. Release German by Porter, Crews says no, Toss Power Bomb for the three count and the win!

Winner and STILL United States Champion: Apollo Crews.

After the Match

Bobby Lashley quickly enters the ring trying to get the Full Nelson, Crews is able to slide out under the under-hook and head up the ramp, leaving Bobby Lashley, MVP, and Shelton Benjamin angry inside the ring!

After-Match Interview Backstage – Apollo Crews

We head backstage where Charly Caruso is waiting to interview the winner of tonight’s United States Championship Title Match. Apollo Crews walks up all smiles with his US Championship belt over one arm, and the one that MVP had made personally over his other.

Crews admits there was a risk of losing the title due to Lashley, “Bobby Lashley is unlike anyone. Because of Lashley, I was stuck on the couch, unable to look in either direction.” Crews then states”How does that look Charly? It looks so good. All I got to say is Thank you P. I really appreciate it!”

MVP Responds To Apollo Crews’ Interview

We return to the ring, MVP states, “What kind of show are you running? With lights flickering on and off, I can’t even work in these… I don’t even know what to call these conditions. I don’t care about your wife, I don’t care about your kids. What I care about, is my re-match. I want my re-match Apollo!”

Benjamin whispers in MVP’s ear, MVP adds, “and I want that re-match, at SummerSlam!”

Backstage – Golden Role Models

Sasha Banks and Bayley are backstage laughing and chatting as they hold their championship belts. Then we flash to another area of the backstage area.

Backstage – Mystery Figure

A man standing in the shadows is stated to be the “brain child” of Shane McMahon.

Simple, we have all the gold. Me, Bayley Dos Straps and her, Sasha “Two Belts” Banks. Ding Dong, hello, that might work on everyone else, but that doesn’t work with all we’ve accomplished. Role the footage! Now! Now…

Video Package – Golden Role Models Highlights

A movie-trailer voice over gives a play-by-play of how Bayley and Sasha Banks obtained “all the gold” to become the holders of all the current Women’s Titles available to them.

Asuka suddenly appears on the screen following the video package. Asuka begins shouting in Japanese with no subtitles, but needless to say, she probably said something along the lines of “Imma whoop that ass!” Finally, Asuka states in English to finish… “Revenge will be very, very sweet!”

We return to Bayley and Banks with Sarah backstage as Banks asks, “Are you kidding me Sarah, how unprofessional.”

Shayna Baszler Joins

Suddenly, Shayna Baszler walks up, “All right, all right… You, have snaked your way into this championship. I’ve waited long enough.” Baszler strikes Banks across the face, Bayley kneels down to her aide.

Iiconics walks up to Kevin Owens and state they know that Owens hosts the KO Show, and they want to be guests. Owens says he would love to have them on, but not tonight, he already has a guest, he plans these things ya know. He offers them both a water as he walks off.

Kevin Owens In-Ring

Kevin Owens music sounds as Owens makes his way down the ramp towards the ring where the KO Show will air LIVE, after the commercial break.

The Kevin Owens Show

As we return from commercial break, Kevin Owens welcomes us to The Kevin Owens Show! Owens states there are big things happening, and one of them is Shane McMahon is here on RAW tonight. Owens then states he wants to welcome his first guest, Ruby Riott! Riott’s music sounds in the Performance Center as she makes her way down to the ring, er, “set” of The KO Show. Owens welcomes Riott and thanks her for being here. Owens adds Riott beat Peyton Royce, her first victory in a while. Riott states she’s had pretty bad luck, and was unable to win a singles match since February.

Riott said last week, she finally got the win on The Iiconics, the only thing that would have made it better, which would be to have Liv Morgan with her to celebrate. Owens states he got a little excited, but wanted to welcome his next guest, Liv Morgan.

Liv Morgan Joins The KO Show

Liv Morgan’s music sounds as a very serious looking Morgan makes her way down the ramp and joins Ruby Riott on the KO Show set. Riott looks nervous, Morgan enters the ring. Owens asked Morgan here to hear what Riott has to say. Then, Owens says he has seen what Riott, Morgan, and Sarah had to together, as Sarah has moved on, he still believes The Riott Squad could reign once again.

Owens says he asked them here because he saw them when they started here in WWE as the Riott Squad, and they were great, they had something special.

And just because Sarah Logan has moved on doesn’t mean they should be done, and as great as they are individually, they bring the best out of each other as a team. He speaks from experience, he’s done crappy things to a lot of people because he thought it was better for his career, but he doesn’t know if it was really worth it.

It might be cheesy, and they don’t have to be friends, it’s just worth hearing Ruby out. Riott says when she came back she thought everything would be the same, but everything was different. She saw Morgan thriving and thought maybe she didn’t need her, and that hurt. Then Liv beat her twice, and she thought she definitely didn’t need her, and she wasn’t ready for that.

Riott begins, “when I came back, I thought things were going to be the same, and I was wrong. This place was different, you were different. I realized you might not need me, and you had come into your own. Then you beat me, then you beat me again. I took it out on you. Our debut date is on my leg and on the back of your neck, and every time I see it…” Riott stops as tears well up in her eyes. She finishes by stating all she wants in another chance for the Riott Squad to be stronger than ever.

Iiconics Interrupt

Peyton says, “Everyone is so tired of hearing the back and forth and the social media posts. no one cares!” Liv should have stayed in the bathtub, and they’re so tired of all of Ruby’s social media posts about her one emotional win. They have dominated the tag team division, they conquered WrestleMania and will always be better than the two of them.

Liv says that she and Ruby might not be iconic, but they agree on one thing— no one starts a riot better than they. Kev says he thinks their message is pretty clear and unless the Iconics have something else to say, they should leave and let them carry on with their business. Peyton challenges them to a match right here, right now. (Van Halen is kicking ass in America?)

They bicker over who should say the thing and KO calls for more technical difficulties. Peyton slaps him, he asks if that was necessary, and then Billie Kay slaps him! Without any emotion, Owens nods, and turns to Liv and Ruby stating, “Ladies… a little help please?” Liv and Ruby attack Iiconics members Billie Kay and Peyron as we head to commercial break!

Iconic Duo (Billie Kay & Peyton Royce) vs. Riott Squad (Liv Morgan & Ruby Riott)

As we return from commercial break, the match is officially underway!
